WIP ask: Heirs Book V (simply because I’m in interested in what happens in the middle of a story)
I already did a brief summary of The Heirs Book V here so here's a little excerpt from the draft which I've chosen specifically because it's connected to the Trewlove series ^_^:
“Verity, dear, the village is absolutely abuzz with speculation!”
“Oh?” Verity had little interest in gossip but found herself awash in it anyway, her upbringing as the daughter of a vicar had seen to that, and she knew her aunt would share whatever tidbit she had regardless.
“It is about the Duke, you see, the Duke and his new bride. We are somewhat removed from London here but we are not completely isolated from the goings on in town and we hadn’t an inkling that the Duke was betrothed, or that he had any thought of marriage at all. And the nuptials were so rushed. In no time at all after he returned to _____ from a visit to a friend’s estate he rushed back to London and returned shortly thereafter with his bride. Some say that the new duchess is… well, in a delicate condition. The previous Duke and his son, the present Duke’s father, were rascals of the first order, but no one would ever have suspected that the young Duke would follow in the footsteps of his forebears.”
It seemed that the new Duchess that had set chins wagging was none other than Lady Theodora P_______, a dear friend of Verity’s, and the rumors of her condition were likely true given the softness of her face and the slight change in her figure that were unlikely to have been caused by indulgence in sweets and rich foods. No, it must be due to another sort of indulgence.
