Another thought about the Ms. Rachel situation: I feel like a lot of people, when accidentally hitting a like instead of delete button or the equivalent, would respond with something like “oh, I’m so sorry, my fingers slipped/I hit the wrong button” and then sit tight with the confidence that they had explained how it happened and that people would accept the explanation. Making a big production about how you’re soooo sorry and you’re only human, you know just makes it seem like you got something to hide
