Wandering with no clear location in mind was something Riku enjoyed. It helped him clear his head, part of his mind engaged with finding paths (exploring), while another part was free to wander in its own way from thought to thought. Freedom in moving, walking, taking in a bit of peace instead of always feeling the light tension of his hand ready to call a weapon at a moment's notice.
The sound that drew his attention seemed strange, though. Out of place. He hadn't quite caught what it was, but had a general idea of the direction. Not a bird, certainly, but maybe another animal drawing his curiosity, changing his direction.
Then that noise. Impact. Something that sounded terrible, actually, a thud and a crack and then again. Again. By the time he'd rounded a corner--
The sight shocked him into stillness. Temporarily, quickly, but it was enough to see what was making that sound, to hear the crack of knuckles and more with the impact. Surprise still enshrouded him, Riku unable to fully raise his voice, leaving him with a harsh croak that was too soft to be heard. "Hey. Sora."
He didn't mean to, exactly. To cross the space between them so fast and reach out for Sora's wrist, hold as gentle as it could be while staying firm, desperately reaching for his voice at the same time. Soft and delicate despite the worry still cracking the edges, wide-eyed and ever so slightly terrified as he tried to be gentle. "Sora. You're hurting yourself, what's going on?"
