Huge update: Iāve really pieced together what I could of Joss, his mental breakdown, and murder. Tumblr doesnt update once reposted so please see https://friendofjims.com/justice-for-jonathan-joss/
Updates at the bottom every day there is news Tristanās Social Media Jossā Husbandās tiktok Jossā instagram his husband is still using Jossā
********
Big update: they bonded the fucking murderer out in under 3 days!!! Sigfred Ceja of 227 Dorsey Street, San Antonio, Tx 78221 is under house arrest.
Actor Jonathan Joss was just murdered for being gay and married to a trans man. On the first day of pride 2025. He was best known for playing John Redcorn on King of the Hill. He was proudly indigenous, often playing indigenous roles. He was Comanche and white mountain apache.
I had no idea he was gay but he was married to a trans man named Tristan Kern de Gonzales (on valentines day 2025!)
They lived in San Antonio Texas where his family is from and he grew up, originally in the house his father built in 1957. He was 59.
In Janurary 2025 his home was burned down which made news. It killed some of his beloved dogs. He didnt elaborate beyond he believed it was arson (gofundme is still up and i suggest donating to help his funeral costs and his husband
We are raising funds to support Jonathan Joss, the beloved voice⦠Logan Kostroun needs your support for Help āKing of the Hillā Actor Jonath
Update: de Gonzales says hes fine he just wants justice but i still think its nice)
Now we know he and his husband had been threatened by several neighbors for being queer. They told pigs, pigs being pigs did nothing before or after it happened.
Yesterday Joss and his husband went to check their mailbox wherein they found one of the skull of one of their dogs nearby (statement from his husband
)
As they weeped and mourned in shock, a neighbor, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, was sitting waiting with a shotgun on his porch. When yelled at he aimed at de Gonzalesā¦but Joss jumped in front of the bullet and was almost instantly killed.
Ceja, homophobic murdering coward, tried to take off but de Gonzales had called pigs who vaguely tried to do something. He was arrested and his bail set for $200k. Or as my sister said who the fuck sets bail for a murderer?
San Antonio.
De Gonzales is clearly mourning, posting pics on Jossā fb page. This one really struck me
This is why we need pride people, and not rainbow capitalism. Please donate to the gofundme and let san antonio cops knows what you think. De Gonzales said multiple neighbors had threatened themā¦id like to see those people investigated for arson.
Go into pride with rage and knowing. Have joy, kiss puppies, dont bow to homophobes. And maybe enjoy a little king of the hill.
UPDATE
Jonathan Jossā husband Tristan kern de Gonzales identifies as trans on his facebook page.
Which explains the ramp up of hate and why the murderer shot at de Gonzales (Joss pushed him out of the way). So this is also a transphobia related murder
The media and pigs are breaking their backs to not say queer. The local bews segment was stunning in its washing of the motive. Good news tho: the gofundme is funded!!!
And i apologize if i didnt include enough info about Joss being indigenous. To me it was so obvious and i just typed this out in rage quickly. Im very glad and touched its spread so far and im really glad to see ppl correcting media online. But do not forget racism likely had a hand in his murder/harassment
Update day 2:
I covered some of the uglier deflections by people who want to write off Jossā murder here
If you are disgusted hate crime was off the table in under 24hrs contact the district attorney, only they have that power now that trump has dismantled the federal hate crime unit
And a lovely follower (who didnt want ther name shared) sent me this
This is in San Antonio on June 8th, 2025. It honors both queerness and being indigenous
I added Jonathanās story to friendofjims.com which i will keep updating as there will likely be more news
Kern de Gonzales has made a tiktok justiceforjoss
Since Canada is currently trying to sell itself as an "ethical alternative" to Iran's oil, I would just like to remind folks / share some quick information:
More than 50% of Indigenous communities in reserve areas in Canada are at high risk of pipeline spills. When there is a spill, reserves are disproportionately impacted.
The National Energy Board and Supreme Court of Canada has a history of declaring the "public interest and economic interests outweigh Indigenous and treaty rights." Basically, Indigenous peoples don't count enough as "public" to matter.
Pipelines are built without proper consent from the Indigenous Nations they choose to occupy. Keep in mind I say choose, because this is the case even when alternative pipeline routes are suggested that could avoid reserve land. This is a direct, constant, and often violent threat to Indigenous sovereignty.
The MMIW crisis is funded by the oil industry through the creation of worker's "man camps" near reserve land. These "man camps" are nothing but pits of sexual violence and human trafficking of Indigenous women and girls. I am not exaggerating; this is well studied and well documented.

everyone should watch this video. just learned something new. the usa is still genociding indigenous people and they won't stop.
Two-Spirit
Two-Spirit is a term created by Indigenous peoples of North America in 1990 to bring together the diverse gender identities and sexualities that exist within their cultures.
It is not a single gender. Each nation has its own traditions, names, and ways of understanding these experiences.
For many communities, Two-Spirit people held important social, cultural, and spiritual roles before European colonization.
The term should not be used by non-Indigenous people, as it is specifically connected to the cultures and experiences of the Indigenous peoples of North America.
Irawhiti (MÄori)
Irawhiti is a MÄori-language term used by some people to describe transgender or gender-diverse experiences.
The term is part of the contemporary revitalization of MÄori language and culture, allowing Indigenous people to describe their identities through their own cultural frameworks.
Although it may be translated as "transgender" in some contexts, Irawhiti carries meanings connected to MÄori cultural realities and should not be understood simply as a copy of Western gender categories. ( Flag design by IrauĆ on Tumblr. ) @irawhiti
takatÄpui (MÄori)
TakatÄpui is a MÄori term used by Indigenous LGBTQIA+ people in New Zealand.
Historically, the word referred to an intimate relationship between people of the same sex.
Today, many MÄori people use the term to express both their Indigenous identity and their gender or sexual diversity.
More than a specific sexual orientation or gender identity, TakatÄpui connects a person to their culture, ancestry, and community.
The term is part of the MÄori cultural revitalization movement and demonstrates that gender and sexual diversity can be understood through Indigenous perspectives, not only through Western categories. ( Flag design by IrauĆ on Tumblr. ) @irawhiti
MÄhÅ« (Kanaka MaÅli)
MÄhÅ« is a traditional Hawaiian cultural identity associated with people who embody both masculine and feminine qualities.
Historically, mÄhÅ« people held important roles as educators, keepers of knowledge, healers, and transmitters of cultural traditions.
The arrival of colonization and Christian missions attempted to erase these identities, but many Native Hawaiians continue to preserve and revitalize the mÄhÅ« identity today.
MÄhÅ« is not simply the Hawaiian equivalent of "transgender" or "nonbinary." It is a distinct cultural identity deeply connected to Hawaiian history, culture, and spirituality.
Tibira/ Tybyra
Tibira is a historical figure documented during the colonial period.
According to interpretations by Indigenous researchers and collectives, Tibira may be understood as a man who had relationships with other men, or as a person who lived with a feminine gender identity or expression, challenging the norms imposed by colonizers.
Their story is remembered as an example that gender and sexual diversity already existed among Indigenous peoples long before colonization. ( Made by me )
Ćacoaimbeguira
Accounts of the TupinambƔ people mention the Ƨacoaimbeguiras.
According to interpretations by Indigenous researchers and collectives, they may be understood as women who had relationships with other women, or as people who lived with a masculine gender identity or expression outside the norms imposed by colonization.
Their existence shows that diverse ways of experiencing gender and sexuality were already part of Indigenous societies long before the imposition of European models. ( Made by me )
