Honestly I feel like sjm must address the baby plot some more in the next books. Bc writing it like that was tasteless in 2021 but in 2022 roe v wade was overturned and last year a dead woman in georgia was kept on ventilation for months just to incubate a child. Keeping a plot like that and excusing it away as mistakes or emotions is now no longer just tasteless it is an active political stance that keeping women in the dark about the risks of their pregnancy is the right thing to do, that the number one priority is the potential of some cells as opposed to the living breathing human already in existence, that termination is not an option, neither by choice nor as a health care recommendation. Like what if the issue wasn't wings but instead an ectopic pregnancy, the treatment is not to go do 9 months of research on how to make the fallopian tube function as a uterus, the treatment is termination.
