❝ wow, that’s terrible. here, you try it. ❞ (Chifuyu to Ryusei)
"Huh?!" Ryusei blinked before laughing. "Wait, wait! You just said that was terrible! Why would I try it?!" Ryusei shook his head, sighing. "You're lucky I just want to see if you're overexaggerating or not." It's a joke, but Ryusei reaches over to take the bottle from Chifuyu's grip before taking a drink from it. Immediately, he's holding it back to Chifuyu and attempting to swallow it but settling for spitting it out instead. "Oh! That's disgusting! Why does it taste like piss out of a dumpster? Why do you even have it? Did you buy it?-"

There’s a small bouquet of three Dahlias in hand. One purple, one orange, and one gold like a sunset. It’s awkward, and Chifuyu isn’t quite sure about the presentation of it all. However, he can recall the day Ryusei offered him advice about it. “Back then, I took your advice to heart. The florist thought these would get my point across.” Handing Ryusei the bouquet, Chifuyu feels the heat rush to his face. “I want you to know I believe in you. Despite everything, I believe in you.” (Bonten timeline)
Hearing Chifuyu come inside wasn't anything Ryusei wasn't expecting. He had known Chifuyu would be home any moment, so it didn't phase him. In fact, he turns to look at Chifuyu to welcome him home (because they both knew Ryusei crashed there more than not, for more reasons than one) , but finds himself pausing and staring at the small bouquet in hand. The colors clash a bit, if you ask him, but he looks over the flower to determine what kind it is. Back then, he had said he didn't memorize the meaning of flowers, and it wasn't a lie. But he never said he had gotten his mother to explain it more to him, that he worked on learning them.
Florists are mainly taught these things, but it seems to come in handy now. Purple, meaning a few things, kindness and dignity as main ones.. good for showing appreciation or admiration. Orange, and even yellow (even if an off shade such as gold, or so he imagined).. both of which for joy and celebration. Even goodness. Though those are what throw him off. Those were usually for a celebration, and he was unsure of the circumstance for this one.
He listens as Chifuyu speaks, handing him the bouquet which Ryusei gently takes as he seems to be in shock for the moment. "Wait, you.. you took that to heart? Don't get me wrong, I think that's nice.. but.. just.. surprised, I guess." The latter part isn't something new to him, Chifuyu has said it at times in the past, but hardly out of nowhere. Maybe that's why it stings a little more, in a good way.
They're not together, but Ryusei still finds himself pulling Chifuyu into an appreciative hug (careful not to crush the flowers). Ryusei is used to his mother being the main one to believe in him, expecting Baji or Chifuyu to lose hope in him at any moment when he was younger. And any moment now for Chifuyu as it is.
"I.. I don't really know what to say in return but.. thank you. That.. this.. all of it means a lot. Even if I'm bad at conveying that. But it's nice to know someone does.. well, aside from my mom but she's biased, I'm pretty sure."
@ofcrossroads : be honest… do you seriously like me? (Chifuyu to Ryu any verse)
"…I know you've been hit in the head a few times, and I know you're dense but c'mon man." Ryusei sighs, shaking his head as he rests his face in his hand. "I've practically outright said it at this point. Do you really think I'm the kind of guy that would waste my time with someone I wasn't fully interested in or didn't fully like? I can't believe you're asking me that. "
"You can yell at me later, just let me help you." From @ofcrossroads
Ryusei was used to getting into fights, some having him take more hits than others, but sometimes there's an unexpected incident. For instance, Ryusei couldn't say he had planned for a knife to impale itself into his side just below the rib cage. Thanks to adrenaline, he had no idea about it at first until he had settled after the fight was done, having made his way to see Chifuyu and hearing him insist on helping.
"If you're sure, I guess." Chifuyu, much like himself, was stubborn. But it was something he could appreciate also. In times like this, where blood is seeping into fabric and staining skin as it dries, it's needed. "No sense in arguin', even I know that much. But as long as there ain't a hospital involved, then fine."
So now he's placed on the side of the tub, hand stained with blood from holding fabric to try to lessen the bleeding. Maybe there was a bit more blood loss than what was reassuring, but he'd be fine. Or so he told himself. Eyes watch Chifuyu move about to get tools to help, slowly peeling his own jacket and shirt off to allow access to the wound.
