friday night, and you've asked him to join you and a group of friends to one of those arcades that have a bowling alley in them and laser tag. the type of arcade with a diner that serves too greasy pizza and the sweetest milkshakes.

iwaizumi wasn't going to say no, he hadn't seen you all week because of how busy his schedule was, and he did not want over ten years of friendship fizzle out in a week.

and maybe it's the way you look at him from across the room, how you always return to his side with a smile and a remark up your sleeve. "you're scaring off the children who want to play flappy bird," you joke, "it's like you're guarding this machine with your life."

"well, i don't know what else to do," iwaizumi shrugs. "i don't want to come in between you and your friends, and i like it here."

"hajime, you're my friend, you know that right?" you tease him, "and i think it's time to part with this machine, there's a photo booth we haven't been in yet."

you hold out your hand for him and he naturally entwines your fingers together – ignoring the rush of lighting that had run up his arm or the quickening pace of his heart, he sighs, "lead the way."

the photo booth is small, cramped, and it all goes by far too fast. it's hard for him to remember anything other than the flashes in his mind, the sound of your laughter that erupts after each photo, and how you rush to think of a pose to do.

the only instance of which time seems to slow is when he looks down at you – returning a stolen glance, one he's very familiar with. it's a brief interaction, where your eyes meet for a split second before time catches up and begins to move again.

iwaizumi may not be the best at catching clues, or the best at affection at times, but even he couldn't deny that this was more than platonic friendship, and it's scary.
