boredom.
Switch had lived through all sorts of torture, but he was pretty sure he was going to die of boredom, right here in this hotel room. Aura had spent at least a billion years getting them âsettled in,â which was Aura-talk for âhovering around and making sure Switch and Ace didnât get into trouble.â She was always worried about them âgetting into trouble,â although she said it in a much nicer way. Not like Radar, who would just snap at him whenever he didnât like what he was doing. Neither of the Flockâs so-called parental figures particularly bothered him, though, and they definitely didnât stop him from doing what he wanted. He thought you needed to âget into troubleâ now and then. It kept things fresh.
And so when Aura left, apparently satisfied that Crunch and Miranda would keep him out of trouble (as if Crunch wasnât just as reckless -- and an awful influence on Miranda, besides), Switch trotted over to Ace. âLetâs go for a fly, dude,â he suggested. âScope out the area. See whatâs around.â He supposed that they could just walk around to accomplish that, but he much preferred flying. Even though it was a little dangerous flying around below the crowds, especially with his brightly-feathered wings, he wanted to do it. He felt like flying, and he wasnât about to let anything stop him from doing what he wanted to do. Besides, he was curious about what the town had to offer.
