So I went down the rabbit hole. After hearing endless chatter about candy.ai and a few other names, I decided to actually test the popular AI girlfriend platforms side by side instead of taking anyone's word for it. Most of them do one thing well and then fall apart somewhere else. SweetDream, over at sweetdream.ai, was the rare one that held up across the board.

What sold me first was the character creation. A lot of apps give you a slider for hair color and call it customization. SweetDream lets you actually build someone, looks, personality, voice, backstory, even the little quirks that make a companion feel like a person rather than a template. That depth changes how the whole thing feels.

There's a lot of nuance when it comes to Shift, more than they like to let people in on. Shift is 221, which, for a god (especially compared to the others that are more or less ageless), is quite young. A human equivalent to it would probably be about 21ish. Dipping their toes into adulthood but still immature, especially when you consider their socialization or... Lack there of.

While, as a deity, they aren't exactly bound to human, or creatian in this context, ideas of neurotypicality it should be noted that the way they are written (by me, also an autistic person), is meant to not shy away from their autistic traits. They struggle a lot with things such as misophonia, self-harmful stimming and aggression. They are also more easily influenced by outside sources than your "average" neurotypical person.

Their actions or more often reactions to stimuli that is distressing to them often makes people consider them to be extremely immature or even downright childish. This isn't to say that their actions should be excused, especially when they harm other people, but in order to be able to find better coping mechanisms and grow as a person they shouldn't be demonized, either.

Bringing their lack of socialization into the conversation, Shift spent very little time with other gods or with other creatians. They had no model to look to on how to behave, and kind of had to make it up as they went along. The government of Creatia denies their existence, half the gods want them contained somewhere and the other half ignore them outright.

Although in more recent years they've managed to start sort of... Well, infohazarding their way into the lives of more Creatians, rarely are they able to really make any sort of meaningful relationships with them because... Well, honestly? They get very overstimulated very easily because of that lack of socialization as they "grew up." Without learning proper coping skills to learn how to deal with things such as their misophonia or aggression or lack of understanding of most social cues, when people act in ways they don't understand or do things that they find upsetting they just melt down because... They were never taught how to get a better handle on their emotions.

Wanting to eliminate ID verification to have access to tech because the ID tech is just another way for the government to access your appearance and habits, etc, is spun as the Scavengers being a ring of g.roomers that want to open children up to sexual content.

and when there are less human connections being formed, there are less possibilities of people organizing AGAINST their oppressive systems so like...

But, eventually, the government started regulating it. Tracks were rarely allowed to have lyrics, because lyrics could be interpreted and tone could be interpreted and even certain scores of sound could be interpreted in certain ways.

The Creatian government, in attempt to stop any messages or Revolutionary Propaganda from entering the airwaves, had concentrated efforts to destroy more physical media and then roll out regulations on to the type of music that could be produced. And then, prosecuting those who created music against the regulations.

The digital stores of past music were systematically wiped out by governments closing sites hosting music, which would then reach out and actually delete the music downloaded onto devices automatically via, essentially, government spyware that came preinstalled in almost every device on the market.
