The Ballad of Bethany Scwhipps @unrxlypirxte
Come around and sit on down For the Ballad of Bethany Schwipps
Some say she's the daughter of the devil Born in the cauldron of hell Others say she went on down And stole the soul From the angel himself
No man has ever tamed her Though many sure have tried She picks them up and leaves them So heartbroke, all they do is cry
She rides a blood bay charger The fastest horse alive His eyes glow red and his great steel hooves Strike a thunder sound
Every soul on Earth Knows to says their prayers When they hear that stallion coming Down the road ahead
This woman, she rides with Van der Linde The meanest gang around You see they once ran Blackwater 'Till the Pinkertons came about
The Pinkertons, they told 'em all To put their weapons down Bethany, she turned around And told them to go to hell
Now Bethany wasn't afraid Of bullets aimed to kill her She pulled her guns and shot twelve men They found themselves in heaven Before they hit the ground
Her guns shining silver She loaded them quick and true Sent twelve more to Saint Peter Building up his queue
A sniper thought he could do better As more men rode on in He put a bullet in her belly Thinking it would it be her end
Beth, she stumbled, but this woman never fell She turned around and shot that sniper dead He surely went to hell No one was safe from the devil's daughter Hundred yards on they fell from their saddles With new holes in their heads
Her aim never wavered, her step never wrong These men they kept on pressing 'Till all her bullets were gone Her shirt soaked red she kept on coming To teach them they were wrong
Now her guns were holstered, leather smoking hot She pulled two knives and struck 'em dead Till the streets turned to rivers Of Pinkerton blood
Bethany loosed a whistle So sharp and true it struck townsfolk deaf That big charger came in a thunder His mistress jumped on and he carried her away
That was the last Blackwater saw of her They don't dare say her name Afraid she might hear them And come back again
Van der Linde, they're on the run With Pinkertons chasing hard Those men, they don't listen To warnings they've been told Get too close and she'll steal your soul The gunslinger, Bethany Schwipps
