5. Rania and Jacquelyn each look up to each other for different reasons. Jacquelyn wants to be a good mother like Rania, and Rania wants to be as brave as Jacquelyn.

Sally is Rania’s daughter #1. She loves Sally so much. SO. MUCH. ALL THE LOVE FOR SMOL SALLY. She would murder and die for Sally. She never wants Sally to be hurt, especially since she’s known Sally since she was a child (Rania was already adulting at this point). If she and Frank didn’t have a daughter, Sally would have been named her heiress, and the fourteenth Duchess of Winnipeg. Rania also wants to get Sally her own horse. 

“You don’t have to. We’re both adults. Nothing will happen.”

“Perhaps because a certain theatre troupe keeps trying to ruin the lives of people that I care about.”

“I can’t help it, I’m a fitful sleeper.”

“Dewey, you are a saint. This party seems impromptu, but I promise, it won’t happen again. Can’t have Esme Squalor getting one up on me, can I?”

Rania’s jaw dropped in shock. Jacquelyn couldn’t be gone, no matter how much she knew deep in her pained heart that it was true. She trembled lightly, tears beginning to spill from her eyes. She had lost a child, never before had she lost a child.
