Dark and Marvin were a thing while Marvin was staying in Dark’s room. They spent time together, Dark would sneak him out for a date. They kept it quiet for a while because Dark didn’t know how everyone else would react since how they see him is very important to how much he can help them (from his pov anyway)

There may have been some denial immediately after Marvin being found but that’s mostly because both of them are so used to having to dedicate themselves to others: Dark to everyone in the building, and Marvin to his brother. They’ve got it instilled in them that they’re not allowed to take anything for themselves so they insist there’s nothing there.

Dark moving Marvin to another room was their ‘splitting up’, it was Dark drawing the line because he doesn’t believe that he can care about Marvin and protect everyone else. So he makes Marvin believe that he doesn’t care, and puts Marvin back into his old role of being responsible for Anti, the exact role he had promised to protect him from (though he wasn’t aware of it at the time due to the lies Marvin told about who Anti was).

They both still really care for each other (something that is coming back into play soon) but feel as those they are looking to protect don’t want them to be together, which is not true. The others are just sick of Dark being a manipulative hypocrit and want him to stop saying one thing and doing another, while Anti doesn’t want Marvin to forget about him and run away. In fact everyone else honestly think that Marvin and Dark are still together and that they’re still keeping it secret from them. The only one who knows they aren’t is Wilford who sees how much it’s hurting Dark to hold Marvin at arm’s length. If this whole thing with Mark hadn’t come to a head when it did, he was going to lock the two of them in a room together until they sorted themselves out.

Marvin trudged out of his room, rubbing a hand down his tired face as he moved to tear back the curtain. As the light glared off the freshly fallen snow, he had to squint at the strange brightness despite the sky being obscured by white snowclouds.

It had snowed and as the realisation slowly dawned on him, he broke out in a giant grin and immediately reached for his phone.

Dark doesn’t even recognise what’s happening to begin with. It starts with him getting tired a lot because there’s just not enough ‘belief’ to maintain him at his usual levels. So he starts sleeping every night which he doesn’t really notice or care about. He’s just tired a lot. Marvin notices and honestly hopes it means Dark’s listening to him and trying to sleep on the regular, but then it starts getting harder and harder to get Dark to wake up.

He starts forgetting things. Like he’ll walk into a room and just have forgotten what he went in there for. Or he says he’ll do something but never gets round to it because five minutes later it’s just gone from his head. Dark going quiet a lot and Marvin having to yell at him to bring him back to himself.

Dark notices that he’s starting to fade when his hand starts to disappear and he goes out his way to try and hide it, except Marvin is a smart cookie and finds out pretty quickly and Dark is just like ‘pfft it’s just fading’ and acts like he’s not scared but Marvin knows he’s lying and tries to figure out a way to stop it happening.

It’s all useless though and Dark just gets weaker and weaker and fades more and more and he eventually breaks down and Marvin wraps around him, promising to save him because it kills him to see Dark like this.

Marvin being caught up in some kind of scheming when Dark finally just disappears. Marvin’s half way through saying something and he turns, and Dark’s just gone. Bye bye. And Marvin is just like “No I was saving him!” and Marvin comes close to breaking because he was so busy trying to save Dark from fading that he didn’t even get to tell Dark goodbye or how important he was and now he’s gone.

Marvin does his best to keep going because he has stuff to do, everything doesn’t just stop, which is the hardest part of it. The world keeps going, so he tries to keep going because if he stops it’s just going to completely crush him. He doesn’t know how to bring Dark back and he doesn’t know what he’s supposed to do now he’s gone. Does he act like Dark was never there? Does he honour him? Does he drink to his memory? What does he do?

His fingers clasped the edge of his sideboard, to be certain he was facing away from the client before he removed his glasses, reaching up and gently squeezing the bridge of his nose.

DarkMagic is like double legit because obviously, before he was Silver, Tobi was Dark in another universe/reality, and there’s a Marvin there. So DarkMagic squared [though naturally being in another universe somewhat put a damper on that - hence superstar]. But again, there are plans.

Dark Fading Part 1 -- Dark Fading Part 2

Anti had promised to let Marvin free today. Just for a little while. to give them a glimmer of happiness in amongst all the torture. Except he didn’t know what Dark had planned. He didn’t know because if he knew, then Dark’s last chance at saving Marvin would be gone. This was his only chance.

“Let you in? Wha-?” the question cut off as the compulsion to obey settled over Marvin, his eyes glazing over.

Let it in. He had to let it in.

To let it in, something had to be keeping it out, so every defence, mental, physical, magical, every last one had to come down. To let it in, there could be nothing left to keep it out. So it all had to shut down.

For the first time since he was a very young child, Marvin was completely defenceless, completely unprotected, and he felt something, the thing, take advantage of this moment.

A weight settled over him, resting heavy on his mind, his chest, his shoulders. The panic he knew he was supposed to feel at this invasion didn’t come, just staring blankly at nothing as whatever it was took it’s position, settled over him, strode past the dropped defences and made itself at home within him.

“I don’t know.” Dark said glancing over the various posters there were on the walls. “I’ve got a feeling that if I tell what I don’t want to watch, then that’s exactly what we’re going to end up seeing.”
