* inspired by deku’s hero notebooks from my hero academia 

hwitaek has notebooks with pages filled out on notes about various idols. he uses the notes to help himself become a better idol. he spends hours on his notebooks, watching videos and pausing them so he can take more notes. he focuses on things like technique, emotions, arrangements (such as him writing down specific things they did if they changed an arrangement), etc. he has at least ten completely filled out (pages are front and back) and his most popular subject is sphere’s junsu (who is mildly obsessed with).

he started his notebooks when he was thirteen. he randomly started taking notes while watching an idol group perform and noticing how they subtly kept changing their choreography for each performance. he decided he liked what they were doing and he started watching other idols and noticing the little things they did and it became something he did more often, mostly for fun and to have something to do, but it has since become something more.

“i take notes because i have great inspiration. i have these idols who stand on stages everyday and they perform for thousands of fans. if i want to be like them, if i want to grow and become a better idol, then i need to learn from them. from how they project their voices, to how the control their breathing, to how they can stand there, if front of their fans and go, ‘this is me. i’m doing this for you’. take what you can get and use it to better yourself, you know?”

allergic to peaches

has very bad allergies during the spring (sometimes he looses his voice)

broke his arm when he fell from a tree when he was 11 (his sister fell too and broke her leg)

is the “mom” friend

will actually cook a lot of food and give it to his “adopted” friends, simply saying he made too much on accident even though he did it on purpose

is very critical when his “adopted” friends do bad behaviors (drinking, smoking)

if he didn’t want to be an idol, he’d want to be a chef

he keeps a record of everything his adoptive parents gave him so he can repay them in the future

spent a summer in san diego, california when he was eight / spent the next summer in singapore

he is bad at most types of games, except racing games. he is weirdly amazing when it comes to them

he does own a car, but only uses it if someone needs a ride, or if he can’t get there by public transportation

How the character feels about people taller or shorter than them

when it comes to people taller than him, he will complain if they pick on him for his height. he doesn’t have a complex otherwise. when it comes to people shorter than him (especially hyunjoon), he will tease them. being someone who is pretty much average height, he doesn’t care too much.

The character and what they think about math

he’s not awful at it and he’s not bad at it. it takes him a couple minutes to come up with the answer. it isn’t one of his better subjects, but not his worst (his worst is history).

How the character feels about murder

well, the consensus is a big whopping no in hwitaek’s book.

How the character appears online

hwitaek isn’t much different online than he is in the real world. he makes stupid tweets just like he makes stupid comments. 

How the character handles money or spends it

hwitaek is very lucky that his adoptive parents pay for his bills (they pretty much demanded it). he never asks for money, but because he doesn’t have to pay any, he has money to spend and most of it is spent on other people than himself. 

The character’s temperature preferences

two words: sweater weather. the type where you need a sweater and maybe a beanie, but not too cold that you need gloves and a scarf. 

The character and languages (Known or Want to Learn)

he knows korean and english fluently and his japanese in moderate level.

The character’s ability to read directions

a big no. hwitaek is the worst when it comes to understanding directions or giving them. 

Character’s preference for relationships (sexuality, type of person, etc.)

honestly, hwitaek hasn’t put much thought into it. he’s only ever had crushes or dates with girls. he has no issues with gay men or gay women. 

( mun note: he’s a flaming bisexual, but he just doesn’t know it yet).

What time the character enjoys sleep or being awake

he prefers being awake. being asleep means he’s not doing anything productive and he can’t be with his friends. he wants to spend as much time with people as he can.

Weather the character enjoys

he loves the fall. preferably that time between september and november. where it is starting to get colder, but still warm enough that he doesn’t have to drag out a snow shovel.

What music the character likes

hwitaek will literally listen to anything anyone puts in front of him. he’s a connoisseur of music. his itunes/spotify/soundcloud is full of music from different genres and from countries all over the world. if someone tells him to listen to a song, he will listen to it earnestly. 

What animals the character likes and if they have a pet/pets

he’s eccentric and he wants pets that most people wouldn’t assume to be great pets, like a squirrel or a naked mole rat. he wants strange pets that make people want to ask him question.

The character’s emotional state most of the time

naturally, hwitaek loves to be a happy person. despite his past, he wants to put a smile on his face and the faces of others. he doesn’t like showing people that he’s sad because he’s supposed to be the shoulder they lean on. so no matter what, he wants to make sure people get the best out of him.

How the character greets people

usually with a big smile and the upmost enthusiasm. if it is someone he knows and is very comfortable with, he’ll hug them the moment he sees them. he enjoys skinship and even with new people, he prefers to at least shake their hand at once. he always makes eye contact and he always smiles and shows interest in what they say.

What flusters the character

attractive people. hwitaek is a mess when he meets someone he is attracted too. in his mind, he believes he’s suave, but the fact of the matter is that he is the opposite of that. 

What makes the character happy

it isn’t hard to make hwitaek happy, but the attention of others is usually enough. an example being is if he made food for people and they are enjoying it and offering him praise, that makes him happy and just being around people and seeing them happy.

What makes the character blush

he’s not someone who blushes easily, even when he’s flustered. one thing that could make him blush is when people call him out on something he did wrong. like if he got an answer wrong in front of the entire class. it is the embarrassment of it mostly.

What scares the character

the unknown. it isn’t some ambiguous thing, but the idea of not knowing. for instance, if he were to play a game where he was blindfolded and had to stick his hand into a box and figure out what something he. he’d hate that. he’d yell and cause of a fuss because his mind would be convincing him that the absolute worst was in it.

What makes the character cry

it isn’t hard to make him cry. he’s very emotional. sappy movies or sad songs could trigger it, but seeing other people, especially people he cares about, crying could set him over the edge. he’s been known to cry while singing emotional songs too.

The character’s “guilty” pleasure

memes. self explanatory. 

What makes the character uncomfortable

talking about his past. he will always change the conversation. he doesn’t let anyone know that he was adopted or that his sister and father or missing. not because he’s embarrassed, but he doesn’t want people to pity him. he prefers to be the one who worries and cares for others.

What the character likes to eat and drink

hwitaek will eat and drink anything put in front of him. he’s an adventurous eater. even the most bizarre foods he will try at least twice (because if you try it once, you may miss out on how good it tastes because you’re so focused on what it is).

What makes the character laugh

it is not very hard to make him laugh. sometimes it takes just staring at him to make him laugh.

What worries the character

he worries that he’ll never find his sister or become an idol. both go hand in hand and also are their own separate worries. since he’s struggled to find his sister by normal means, he figures that if he can become an idol (something he already wanted to go), she will see him and come home. but there are so many talented people out there, he worries he will never be able to catch up.
