Tabii's Tip #6-Carry a Magazine when riding the subway in shorts
If you live in New York City, you probably have a weird relationship with public germs. I do. I'm so grossed out by people picking their noses on the subway and spitting in the subway car (2 people. At the same time. Long story). I do, however, hold the hand railing and sit on the seats. When I get home, I change my clothes before sitting on anything and wash my hands. I do, however, on occasion have lunch on the train. It's weird. One of my biggest gross-outs during the summer, though, is sitting on the subway seat in shorts. I cannot stand to have the underside of my legs touch the car seats. I've devised what I consider to be a clever little way of avoiding this. I carry a magazine with me when I wear shorts. I open it up, lay it on the seat and sit on it, thus preventing my bare skin from touching the seat. Ingenious, no? Then, I fold the magazine up and stick it inside my bag. Don't ask.
