one of the things I often see people talk about in relation to pbta games (or non dnd games in general) is that they don't fare as well for extended campaign play and I'm realizing 90% of this is that a dozen sessions in a pbta game is an equivalent level of pacing and story to a years worth of dnd dnd is mostly good for long term play because it takes so damn long to do anything, between long combats and the system lacking any storytelling tools to support the dm, the pacing feels like a crawl compared the the kinds of games I've gotten more used to
