Day 29 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: Sometimes the best friendships make things easier and harder at the same time.
Day 28 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: We wanted to wrestle with the question of how people mean to do good and end up doing bad, awful things because of the little nudges that happen along the way. A villain isn’t always twirling a mustache. Sometimes it’s the looming reporting for the Q2 profit margins.
Day 27 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: Sometimes the real treasure was the friends we found along the way. Sometimes it was the real enemies.
Day 26 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: The raw horse happened, and no further questions on the topic will be answered.

Day 25 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: Vanessa gave her brother a plant, and that’s what happened to it?
i need to come up with a way to say “i mean like, movies for grownups” that doesn’t make me feel like a villain
*peeks in the replies* *gets really nervous and locks my house up and leaves*
I don't think "movies for grownups" is a useful category anyway, it's far too broad. What do you want to watch movies about?
sex, violence, curse words, taxes, day jobs, alcoholism, dating, murder, divorce, debt, dead-end retail jobs, weird little humiliations, chain smoking outside diners, bad landlords, chronic back pain, popping painkillers like tic tacs, getting ghosted, shitty apartments, grief, gambling addictions, funerals, office politics, sexual repression, bad tattoos, eviction notices, insomnia, emotional affairs, weird coworkers, long commutes, bankruptcy, custody battles, compulsive lying, stalking, body horror, ugly crying, layoffs, guilt, addiction recovery, moral compromise, black mold, road rage, nihilism, awkward funerals, disappointing sex, cohabitation, cults, labor strikes, failing marriages, religious trauma, tax fraud, pyramid schemes, jealousy, cigarettes for dinner, bad breakups, middle management, panic attacks, community theater, DUI checkpoints, unplanned pregnancies, messy love, manipulative love, missing persons, steaming wallpaper, prescription side effects, chronic loneliness, inheritance disputes, estranged siblings, and occasionally, if i’m feeling Whimsical, eating human meat
When I say that The Butterfly Koi is an “Adult” book this is what I’m thinking about. Yeah, there is a sex scene but it’s light on body part details. What makes it adult are the things that younger age groups likely just wouldn’t be interested in, like the frustration with workplace politics, issues with caring for a parent, and wondering if you’ve peaked in life.
Day 24 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: A nice interestingly complicated timeline always makes me happy (and the spreadsheet only made us cry a little).
Day 23 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: Trains. Trains. Trains. All the trains. (Why else would we need that map?)
Day 22 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: No fantasy book is complete without a detailed map at the front and that character list at the back. How could I resist continuing the tradition?

Day 21 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: We can all have a little unhinged breaking and entering, as a treat
Day 20 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: All of the moms are alive, and most of their children mostly lament this fact very much.
Day 19 of my favorite things about our book The Butterfly Koi: Female friendships where there’s enough history to make things comfortable and complicated, especially when you’re stuck at a fondue restaurant.
Day 18 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: Capturing that feeling when you pull on your big girl pants and go make it happen, no matter how comfy your bed is.
Day 17 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: The most delicious food and the most terrible ramen

Day 16 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: Sometimes you need a friendship where your bestie can remind you that you‘re about to get yourself murdered (multiple times)
Day 15 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi: Because sometimes people became famous for being the Flower Boy Ramen Chef
