General Gist:

At the start of his main story, River transfers to the University of Texas at Austin after having played for the Ole Miss Rebels for two seasons. He transfer with the main intent of starting fresh and anew. River craves for change and one of them is wanting to get away from Mississippi - his birthplace. The students at Texas seem more open, which drew River to appreciate and be excited. Despite that, he found himself homesick and afraid. His parents were still unhappy but stayed content that their son was the superstar of the family. He was afraid to reveal a more authentic, true version of himself. Up to this point, his birthname (FYI: River is his chosen name) became foreign and something that disturbed him. It made him uncomfortable to hear it, wanting to tell his peers, teammates, friends that he'd rather be called something else. Yet, he doesn't know.

Outside of the sport, River is easily amusable. He's able to find the joy in everything. You could tell him the most common fact and he'll react like it's the first time he's ever heard. In his spare time he likes to go on nature walks, document insects, draw them, and watch sports to study them. As a football player, River brings an invigorating spirit. He always makes sure to hype others up and leave no one behind. He's aware of his shorter height for a defensive player but makes it up for his quick thinking and maneuvers (correlates to his nickname.) He makes his presence felt on the field.

As noted, this is the general gist. The meat of his character contains heavier elements which I'll further debate on discussing later or not.

Additional Stuff [NFL addition]:

His Texan era is fairly new as of now so I don't have a lot. He gets picked in the later rounds with concerns about his physicality and height. If people caught vids of him, River is usually spotted with a cinnamoroll plush (which he calls "de escalation" and I feel is his 'mascot') on his hat or anywhere on his clothing . He's vocal on issues like toxic masculinity and advocates for people to be authentic/true with themselves.
