I had posted this story up awhile ago on Live Journal and there was no interest for it. Due to a piece of wonderful fanart I saw a few minutes ago, I found that part of his plot turned out to be a prediction on what would eventually happen to Kaldur on the television show. So, with that, I decided to move my plot challenge to tumblr. to see if there is anyone who has any interest on doing a Conner/Kaldur piece. Changes to the overall plot is understandable, if you feel you can only work with pieces of the plot and place in your own senarios through out, all I ask is that you give me some credit for what ideas you take, other than what actually happened on the show. Also that the pairing sticks to Conner/Kaldur, with Kaldur being the submissive in the relationship.
Basically the story starts in the final stages of the secret mission, Kaldur is confronted by M'gann, all alone; and she is pissed about Artemis' "death". Not allowing Kaldur a chance to defend himself, she wrecks his mind with her power, having every intention of completely ruining him and leaving him to rot. Of course, as she shifting through his mind for helpful information, she finds out the truth about his whole turnabout, including the fact that Artemis is actually still alive. By the time she finds all of this out and lets him go from her grasp, it's too late. This particular attack is much more powerful form of her power, an untapped attack she unleashed without thought, and now her former friend is suffering the consequences of the first untapped attack.
Unknown to her, Lagoon Boy follows her and witnesses the attack she unleashed on Kaldur; Lagoon Boy quickly comes to understand why Conner broke up with M'gann in the first place and why he remains angry at her. Though Lagoon Boy doesn't know what M'gann found out about Kaldur, he knows from her reaction from her attack on him that she found out something, possibly good, that caused her to stop the attack. Lagoon Boy chases M'gann off and takes Kaldur back to headquarters for medical attention. M'gann soon comes and tells everyone of what she saw, she reveals that plans she's seen, the secret mission set between Dick and Kaldur, and that Artemis is alive. Lagoon Boy, finally getting a moment to speak after all of the chaos of bringing Kaldur to headquarters caused him to be pushed to the background, tells of what he witnesses; Conner backs Lagoon Boy up with information on what he witnessed M'gann do before, as well as the attack she tried on him to make him forget about the fight they had before he broke up with her. M'gann is immediately viewed as a threat by the Justice League and is removed from all missions until further notice. Lagoon Boy, soon calls a break in his and M'gann's relationship, him not knowing what to do with this new side to this girlfriend.
With Martian Manhunter being off planet to only Lord knows where for an unknown amount of time (where and time up to the author); M'gann is the only one they can turn to in hopes of reversing the affects of what she had done to Kaldur. Her attempts causes Kaldur's just barely stable condition to worsen, causing him to flat line; he is revived, but placed on life support after it is found he cannot breathe by himself any longer.
As time goes on, Artemis comes to them after not hearing from Kaldur from some time, knowing that they likely had something to do with his disappearance; she gives information on what is going on with the mission and decides to continue on with it by herself, despite her sister's pleas to let her join her. Rather or not Artemis confronts M'gann on what she did to Kaldur, is up to the author.
When Manhunter finally returns home, he is told of what M'gann had done to Kaldur. Angered at his niece, he puts a cap on her powers; rendering her completely powerless, leaving her in either her true form, or her green human form, as long as it's a form that doesn't blend in with Earth as punishment. Manhunter reveals that the technique of mind power that M'gann used is a taboo on their planet not used by the common population, only those who are specially trained, like Manhunter himself, can use those powers; and those powers were reserved for ones condemned to death after trial, not a tactic to deal death on the spot. M'gann is not trained in this technique and the damage done to Kaldur may be irreparable. The process of healing Kaldur takes awhile for Manhunter to complete, because he must go back and repair the damage that occurred during the attack, and heal the continued damage from after the attack; the amount of time is up to the author.
When Kaldur does finally wake up, he is missing five years of memories, meaning: He thinks it's 2011, that he thinks he still 16 years of age and that the others haven't aged, he thinks Tula's still alive, he's unaware of the bad blood caused between him and the Leagues due to the mission, he doesn't remember the secret mission or the knowledge he gained from it, and he doesn't even know who Artemis is or that her sister is the mother of his best friend's child, who Roy married and divorced from, or that the Roy he was close with is a clone, and many other things. This time crash devastates Kaldur and he retreats back into himself, becoming reserved and shy to everyone as he told more and more of everything that happened, of everything he did; especially to the new people he didn't meet before, or rather simply doesn't remember.
Everyone, knowing the truth of why Kaldur did what he did, forgave him awhile before when they first found out everything, and decide to pitch in to help reintroduce everything and everyone to Kaldur, as well as introduce the things and people that he missed due to the mission, such as Lian. He has to go undercover in the outside world, because due to everything he did for the mission, he's become a terrorist; known in both villain and original civilian forms. For his protection, much to Kaldur's chagrin, he cannot go on missions of any sort; if he's out and a mission occurs, he's immediately to be returned to headquarters.
All the while, Conner feels that a lot of this is his fault. If he had told someone of what M'gann was doing with her powers long before, likely none of this would've never happened. He takes it upon himself to become Kaldur's protector as he is guided through the same, but brand new world; Conner's often by Kaldur's side both inside and out headquarters. The pair eventually start falling for one another, but are too stubborn or shy to do anything about it, feeling that they don't deserve each other. How they fall for each other is up to the author.
Rather or not Kaldur eventually regains his memories, or sticks with his brand new memories is also up to the author.
Bonus Challenges:
* Upon finding out what his adoptive sister did to Kaldur, Garth becomes mad at her and refuses to speak to her even, unless he absolutely must. Like Bart (is that Impulse's name), Garth is intrigued by Kaldur and wants to know more about him. The two become close and have gain a brotherly relationship. Garth notices that Kaldur is falling for Conner and that his feelings are likely returned. So with the help of friend(s), Garth plots ways to get the two closer together in hopes that they will find happiness together.
* Black Manta and Kaldur had a close father/son relationship while Kaldur was undercover, a relationship that Black Manta coveted despite the fact that he sent his son on constantly life-threatening missions. If Black Manta finds out what happened to his son and where he is, he plans a special attack for the League specifically to get his son back.
