In January 2014, I was walking home and thinking about what I’d do if I took over the @peopleofkw account. With such a big audience, what could I tweet about that would be important? I thought about challenging myself to eat, shop and play local for 1 week and tweeting about it. Then I thought, “why don’t I get a bunch of people to do this with me?” and thus @livelocalkw was born.

LiveLocalKW is a 1 week challenge to eat, shop and play local during September 13 to 19. People pledge online and participating local businesses offer discounts and incentives that week. The goal is to grow our sense of community and belonging.

And who am I? I’m the creator of it. I’m hit-or-miss funny, surprisingly organized and classically extroverted. I’m interested in anti-oppression, radical spaces and the roles that communities play in our well-being.
