rez and Lt. hoover's adventures in The Watch

So the other day I was minding my own business, sitting in the pilot seat of a grineer freighter I happened to "borrow, when I decided to check out what cargo they were trying so hard to destroy for some odd reason. I had no issue doing this during the trip back to a buddy of mine, who salvages vessels for a living, seeing as I was still mid-jump and was not able to be tracked due to the chaotic nature of the jump algorithims. So far, during my check of what was stored on the vessel, things seemed pretty cut and dry. The various cargo was what you'd expect a grineer freighter to be hauling, everything was on the shipping manefest i had "liberated" of the foreman, So I started marking off items and taking stock of what remained and what got thrashed.

It wasn't until I made it toward the very back of the cargo bay did i discover a few things that weren't on the manefest. All the way toward the back end of the cargo bay was a group of kubrow eggs, probably for those horrid drakk masters i've seen on a few missions. The clutch looked worse for where, all but four of the eggs having been destroyed by some of the various tools I had been finding strewn about the bay when I cleared the ship. I shook my head in sadness and said a little prayer i had found somewhere on earth for the eggs that were no more, planning on giving them an earthen burial later, before i took the four that remained intact with more to the bridge.

Some time later, we had made it to port. I handed off the manefest to a steel meridian trooper, the friend I had mentioned earlier, before taking what was left of the eggs and the 4 that were intact to my liset parked in the hanger. I got my pay for the milk run before heading to earth to lay to rest the souls of those unborn. When I got to earth, thankful for there not being any disruptions, I had a small ceremony for the eggs before making a gravemark for them. Call me sentimental, but i always had a soft spot for animals.

When I got back to the Dojo, I headed right for the kennel I had comissioned, going to put the four eggs to incubate. I was also kind of excited to have found those four eggs on some level, having gone and gotten an upgrade for the incubators, so i can see how well the incubators worked with the upgrades. All my kubrows were present as well, having taken up a sort of protective vigil around the incubators, excited for the new additions to "The Watch".

I took a few other missions in the mean time, accumilating credits for a few things i needed around the dojo. When the eggs finally hatched, which was while i was on a particularly long boss fight with the recently re-"surfaced" tyl regor, I was met with four cute and fluffy faces. Seems that one of the eggs was a sahasa breed while the other two were huras, which was awesome in thier own right. Now you might be saying to yourself "what about the forth egg" and you'd be right, I didn't say anything about the forth, yet.

The forth egg is what stumped me, and by proximity, ordis as well. It took almost a few hours of digging through as many archives as I was able to infiltrate, or discover, before we had our answer. The breed was called chesa and they were used to retrieve things, anything really, but mostly what was needed at that time. Which had me ecstatic while my other kubrows were playing with the pups. As for what i had named them, that was a simpler affair. I had named them Madam Poofso, Sir William, Ms Fancypoof, and Sir Reginald. What can i say, earth had quite a bit of "high fashion" names, whatever the void "high fashion" means. I guess this means that i now have what the old earth inhabitants called a "pack", which probably was used to describe a group of the alleged "wolves.

Ever have one of those days where you think that things can’t possibly get any worse, realize you uttered that out loud, then have to scramble to find someplace safe before however you jinxed yourself decides to actually execute? Well, I can safely say that today was one of those days. 

It had all started when I decided to go solo, without even my sentinel or one of my kubrows, into a few “scenic” Outposts of Pluto. I had decided to skulk about with my fancy new synthesis scanner I got from that new cephelon that popped up on the second floor of the relay. I had decided to put it through it’s paces and get a few scans I may have been missing from within my codex while also earning some brownie points with Cephelon Simaris. 

Everything was going extremely well for a while, no one actually having detected me for the duration of my “visit”. It wasn't until I had decided to get a few more scans on my way to the Extraction point that I ran into a slight bit of trouble. Now, I want you to understand something, I support three syndicates. I support Cephelon Suda becuase i sometimes fear for Ordis’s sanity when i’m not there, Arbiters of hexis Because it’s nice to be rewarded for some subtly, and Steel meridian Because It’s nice to have friends that have no qualms about “Excessive force”.

Needless to say I have made a few enemies, you know, besides the 3 other factions that kinda want to kill tenno regardless. As I had just rounded one of the hallways, I had the weirdest feeling. This feeling had me looking for the nearest vent and quickly sneaking into it. I am so glad i followed an instinct that I would have normally ignored otherwise because not even 2 seconds later I got contacted by the Perrin Sequence stating that they ordered a hit on me.

Now, for the uninitiated, there is something to be said about the hit squads an enemy syndicate will send at you. They can send some pretty nasty Things your way, some very difficult to kill, some that fire at once to create a wall of death. But the one type of enemy I can safely say I hate to the point of LOATHING them are the Eximus units that just LOVE to drain you of power.

So to recap, I am alone, I have no sentinel or kubrow with me, I have a limited ammo pool since I forgot to stock up, and now there are Eximus units fighting the locals and sapping my power. Anyone else thinking up enough creative ways to curse and destroy someone that they can make even a Hydriod, Valkyr, and Necros gasp? Well I did and they were extremely jagged.

It took me roughly 5 hours to sneak my way over toward the extraction point, dodging the earlier spoken of “wall of death” during the final sprint. I didn't even let ordis land, I just told him to open the rear Hatch and Gun the thrusters as I leapt Into the liset from the ramp and into the cockpit as the hatch slammed shut behind me. 

Going to have to make this short. me and Charline were messing around with some of the enemies during a few missions lately. you know, pantsing them, switching their uniforms, having charline relieve herself in their boots. you know, the usual. but on this last mission.....um...i might have pissed off sargas ruk by accident.

We were just minding our business, replacing the helium can labels with O2 labels and placing them in the tank room for the mask wearing grunts (which is most of them) of the grineer base we were in, when i almost slipped and sort of....knocked a can into the vent leading to where ruk's office was. the valve cracked open on the top grate and started to fill the room. he was making announcements and people started laughing. when he noticed his voice was hilarious, he kinda started fuming and torching everything.

So, as many of you may or may not have heard, i was finally allowed to get my own personal ship instead of having to…oh, what was that old earth term? Oh yeah, carpool. It was glorious, despite needing some fixing up, and the ship AI, ordis, chewing me out for sleeping with my feet on the dash.

So, i noticed that one of the modules in the back looked weird, kinda wonky with twin heating elements. I fished out the ships manual and looked it up, finding they had included an incubator…on a ship…..I was just as confused as you.

Ordis told me to ignore the module so i asked around at the tenno grapevine. Found out that a few had discovered it can be used to hatch a kubrow egg. Needless to say, me and Lt. Hoover flew down to earth to grab ourselves an egg, while not being killed by any acting as a den mother. After some very painful encounters and a LOT of running, i managed to secure one.

We got back to the ship dock and got to work trying to get the incubator running. Had to play distraction for a friend calling in a favor, he finds the module part and i get shot at. Our Trinity was LIVID when i got back. Installed the part my friend found, and the power core i had cooking from a blueprint i got from the market, when I got back before inserting the egg, much to ordis’s volition.

After a long while of me getting on ordis’s nerves, the egg had finished incubating. When i went to the incubator to check it, i saw the cutest little face. The manual i found in the orkin lab in the dojo said the one i had was a huras kubrow, stealthy little sneak of a hound she was. I had named her charline and played with her until she walked into the corner to sleep.

So i took a trip to earth today, i wanted to take some scans of the kubrows, with someones borrowed Helios sentinel. Don’t worry about the Lieutenant, he’s having his system cleared of a rock that got into his firing mechanism. As for the person i, err, “borrowed” the helios from? Well, he wont need it for a while, or ever for that matter.

Anyways, while i was observing a large group of kubrow outside their dens, some grineer lancers walked by. I switched my observation from the nice doggies to the angry looking goons, curious as to why they would be in this sector at this time. I was completely unaware of my footing and knocked a large stone down the cliff i was hiding on, which was above one of the dens.

Now, on any normal occasion, this wouldn’t be a problem. But today there were grineer involved and i only had my lex, leaving my vectis and glaive behind to travel light. Once the stone hit the den, the kubrows went on alert and started searching for the disturbance. What they found instead was the group of lancers.

What happened next was pretty graphic, so i wont describe it here. But what i will say is, i was in awe. I heard heard stories and skulked the archives on the old earth animals called wolves, what i saw was a clear indicator that they lived on in spirit within the kubrow. I politely excused myself and made like the stalker was chasing me down for owed credits, which is to say i got the hell out of there.
