And so to the final photo, Peyto Lake off the Icefields Parkway in Banff, Canada. I really hope this series of photos has brought a little joy to your days and perhaps even inspired you to get out there taking photos. Things may be starting to get back more to normal but this pandemic isn’t over. Please all stay safe! 

The easing of the lockdown a couple of weeks ago meant that (whilst of course staying alert!) I felt comfortable stopping to take some photos of the wildlife outside of my garden. I visited this woodpecker nest I found several times and was lucky enough to see the last chick fledge the nest.

Since this is the last day before I return back to working (from home) I have a final trio of photos for today. This is me and my wife doing what so many people across the country and world have been doing for the last few months. Staying at home, safe and enjoying our garden in the good weather!

We’re lucky to see Greater Spotted Woodpeckers multiple times a day at this time of year and with being home much more. Still extremely tricky to get a photo of them in flight though!

Not quite the spectacular Northern Lights show we were hoping for, but I’ve never seen quite so many stars in the sky as this. Taken back in March 2018 in Iceland.

The first rose flower of the year in our garden. Hoping for many more!

While I’ve been enjoying taking photos of the squirrels here in my garden, this photo of a Canadian Red Squirrel whilst in Jasper is still my favourite!

Lots of young birds in the garden now. Here’s a shot of a young robin from a couple of weeks ago.

The late May bank holiday is always a good weekend for motorsport. Besides the Monaco Grand Prix there’s usually plenty going on in the UK. Last year we went to Thruxton to watch the BTCC and this year we were planning on going to Brands Hatch for the historic racing.

This was a nice surprise in the wildflower area of our garden which, up until now looked to contain mainly weeds!

I’ve now doubt that the Rhododendrons and Azalias in Windsor Great Park will look particularly stunning at the moment. This photo was from the fantastic display last year.

This great tit has been a frequent visitor to our garden, so expecting some young ones to appear some time soon.

I usually see the Red Arrows perform their amazing displays each year at Silverstone. Looks like I’ll have to wait until next year to see them again.

If there’s nothing else around in your garden, there’ll always be some sort of insect. This hover fly decided it wanted to pose for a photo.

A photo of York Minster for today’s pick. York is a great city which I got to know while Linda was studying there. Looking forward to visiting again some time.
