I woke up at 4am and watched The Man music video. I couldn’t go back to sleep because I was literally just that shook.
it makes me sad how widely discredited reputation is as a significant album that came out this decade.
LWYMMD was such an interesting and incendiary lead single: sampling the party music from Mean Girls as a subtle nod to Taylor being called a ‘Regina George in sheeps clothing’, the accompanying music video which frankly deserves its own post but most notable about it was the fact that she literally created an entire mountain of her previous selves in some of her most recognisable tour costumes and award show outfits, the reference to the ‘RIP taylor smith’ mural and the #taylorswiftisoverparty with “why? ‘Cause she’s dead!”. The bait and switch of leading with LWYMMD, drawing in the cynics who intended to hate-listen to reputation and rave about how she wrote a whole album about the phone call™️, and then instead giving them an entire album about falling in love.
And then further into the album we were delivered songs like Delicate with that fragile sounding vocoder voice that sounds just as delicate as the lyrics felt, This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things sounding like the chanting of immature children, Call it What You Want referencing 1989’s closing song and saying “they took the crown but it’s alright” and sounding very much like this calmness in the middle of a storm. Taylor said there would be no explanation, there would just be reputation and it was true. I think to date, it’s Taylor’s most self explanatory album and one of her most artistic ones. And at the risk of sounding quite biased as a fan, I really do think it was one of the best albums to come out over the course of this decade, despite people’s best efforts to undercut it as her ~dark album~ and a bad phase.
And reputation as a whole was such a serve because Taylor had been treated as public property since 2007 by the time rep came out, and it was such a statement for her to say “this is what you get to know about me and the past few years I’ve been gone. Nothing more.” which was probably very daunting for her!! since she was a teenager, she’d had her personal life discussed publicly much like people having a conversation about you with you in the room, and never got to say that that’s not fair or okay, that her journalistic method of songwriter and artistry is not an open invitation to pry any deeper than they were permitted to.
this. i think a possible reason it’s dismissed by the gp and the music industry is because it does all of the above. it tricked the general public into thinking it was all about the drama. it set taylor’s boundaries for them and it was basically her saying, ‘my life isn’t yours anymore - it’s mine, and it always should have been.’ it’s a woman who was scrutinised and never empathised with by the general public owning who she is, her mistakes, her glory days and her low days, it’s fierce as fuck. and society doesn’t like that from women. it’s why taylor is always gaslighted by the media, why there’s so many blatantly sexist stereotypes thrown at her by the same people who claim to be ‘feminists.’ it’s shining a light on all of the shit she’s been through, but what she found in the middle of all of it which is what the general public and the media and the music industry will never be able to take from her.
we as a society (since we’re still fucking patriarchal dinosaurs) aren’t used to people, especially women, coming back and owning their past with honesty and open-mindedness. we don’t forgive people, we don’t forgive ourselves, and yet expect others to do so. reputation is so important because it does all of this, but is also dismissed by the general public because it’s too forward-thinking and raw and honest than their tiny little minds can handle. it proves them wrong.
in short, reputation is fucking iconic and deserves the world and more.
Thank you @taylorswift
It’s honestly hard being a swiftie while #adulting
Looking back at times of my life that honestly revolved around Taylor, I had an active fan account, I made fan art, I made it my life mission to own every piece of Taylor merch I could. Where as now, I work full time and barely have time to myself, and every spare bit of change is going towards paying off a house and just everyday expenses.
But. Still at the end of the day, when it’s 12:30am and I can’t sleep after a tough week. I turn to Taylor, and her music to help ease my mind. Songs start shuffling like “The Last Time” and I’m instantly taken back to 2012, thinking about hearing RED for the first time. “This Love” starts playing and suddenly it’s 2015 and I’m standing in a lit up crowd as Taylor sang to a Sydney stadium, when I was standing there just a few meters away from a woman I absolutely idolised. Even Delicate has become a delicate topic, getting goosebumps remembering just over a year ago, Taylor floated right over my head, and the absolute joy that brought me living that the moment.
Point is. Life is hard. Adulting is hard. You might not be as crazy or dedicated as you used to be, but I never left. Just like Taylor will never leave us. Taylor is there for us when you’re at your highest highs and your lowest lows, and for that I am so thankful x
Thank you @taylorswift

taylor swift // i did something bad
The Lover Music Video got me like
So I was shopping at Paddy’s Markets today in Sydney and instantly noticed @taylorswift’s merchandise, although it certainly wasn’t Taylor’s merchandise.. one of the stalls had directly copied Taylor’s purple Olivia shirt and was reselling them for $35. At first I had a fan girl over the fact I found something Taylor related, but afterwards it had really pissed me off, not gonna lie. Out of all the designs this booth could have created, they decided to directly steal Taylor’s.
I am aware this shirt is no longer available on Taylor’s website and could be seen as it being a good opportunity for those to buy who missed out. BUT if you do see dupes, don’t support them. I know it’s only a few uni-cats on a tie-dye t-shirt, but it is still plagiarism 💜💜
Team I still scream “YOU FORGIVE YOU FORGET BUT YOU NEVER LET IT GO” even when I’m not listening to the bad blood remix.

Ok but all you secret sessioners, what were the vocals like? Like do we have any belts and runs, high notes etc, you know anything that literally digs you a grave, like you feel in DBM or IDSB (I know there are way more examples but these were the first 2 that popped in my head)
