Der Soldat sah die anderen triumphierend an und lachte auf. »Leute, wir haben ausgesorgt!«

»Seid ihr sicher? Ihr habt Tamtey?« Bukowskis vertraute Stimme, die aus dem Funk ertönte, sorgte für einen Knoten in Tamteys Magen.

»Ja, Sir. Sie hat das Zeichen und das Bild passt zu ihrem Steckbrief. Nur ihre Bemalung ist verschmiert.« Der Soldat hielt ihr mit einem triumphierenden Grinsen das Gewehr an den Kopf, woraufhin Tamtey ihn energisch anknurrte. »Was sollen wir mit ihr machen, Major? Erschießen?«

»Nein, wir brauchen sie lebend.«

»Als Lockmittel?«, fragte eine der Soldatinnen.

»Fast.« Bukowski klang selbst über Funk sehr zufrieden. »Eher als … Wiedergutmachung. Rlltì will sie. Sie hat sich soeben auf den Weg gemacht, sie ist bald da. Bringt Tamtey schon mal in den Berg. Aber keine Sorge, Leute, das Kopfgeld gehört euch, damit fängt eine Mangkwan nichts an.«

The soldier looked triumphantly at the others and laughed. “Guys, we’re set for life!”

“Are you sure? You’ve got Tamtey?” Bukowski’s familiar voice, coming over the radio, made Tamtey’s stomach knot.

“Yes, sir. She has the mark, and she matches the description in her wanted poster. Only her face paint is smudged.” The soldier held his rifle to her head with a triumphant grin, whereupon Tamtey growled at him fiercely. “What should we do with her, Major? Shoot her?”

“No, we need her alive.”

“As bait?” asked one of the female soldiers.
