»Ach du Scheiße, das ist die Bestie! Svenson hat tatsächlich den Fliegenden Tod erwischt!«
Der Soldat sah die anderen triumphierend an und lachte auf. »Leute, wir haben ausgesorgt!«
»Seid ihr sicher? Ihr habt Tamtey?« Bukowskis vertraute Stimme, die aus dem Funk ertönte, sorgte für einen Knoten in Tamteys Magen.
»Ja, Sir. Sie hat das Zeichen und das Bild passt zu ihrem Steckbrief. Nur ihre Bemalung ist verschmiert.«
Der Soldat hielt ihr mit einem triumphierenden Grinsen das Gewehr an den Kopf, woraufhin Tamtey ihn energisch anknurrte.
»Was sollen wir mit ihr machen, Major? Erschießen?«
»Nein, wir brauchen sie lebend.«
»Als Lockmittel?«, fragte eine der Soldatinnen.
»Fast.« Bukowski klang selbst über Funk sehr zufrieden. »Eher als … Wiedergutmachung. Rlltì will sie. Sie hat sich soeben auf den Weg gemacht, sie ist bald da. Bringt Tamtey schon mal in den Berg. Aber keine Sorge, Leute, das Kopfgeld gehört euch, damit fängt eine Mangkwan nichts an.«

“As bait?” asked one of the female soldiers.
“Almost.” Bukowski sounded very satisfied, even over the radio. “More like… making amends. Rlltì wants her. She’s just set out; she’ll be here soon. Get Tamtey up the mountain in the meantime. But don’t worry, guys, the bounty’s yours—a Mangkwan hasn’t got any use for it.”
