axl’s got a LOT of tension in his muscles, constantly, particularly in his upper body and you can see it especially well when he’s not wearing a shirt (often). with the squarer shoulders and constant movement he makes himself look bigger and therefore more threatening. it’s behavior 101! constant eye movement means he’s very aware of his surroundings, and it also broadcasts to others the same thing. everything about axl’s posture and behavior screams don’t fuck with me.

he carries himself like something being preyed on, which he basically was throughout his formative years, and that’s not something you leave behind. he’s waiting to have to defend himself, because in his mind it’s inevitable, so it’s only a matter of time – an attitude that leads to him starting shit when no one else does first (and usually before anyone has the chance). it’s axl’s (maladaptive) way of maintaining control: he probably thinks if he’s the one starting it then he controls the situation, which is... true only to an extent, but i digress.
