“i have been trying to find meaning in existence, only to find existence itself is meaning.” -unknown
all of my philosophical and spiritual explorations have led to a few conclusions, each with a similar underlying message. these conclusions have guided me to a level of love for life and general happiness that i didn’t even think i was capable of.
we can spend all of the energy our souls have been given, and all the time we have in this temporary life, digging within our own heads to try and find answers about the universe and life itself, but the only real answer is this, and once you come to fully accept it, you will experience a sense of peace and joy that reaches deeper than anxiety ever could: nothing about this universe, and nothing about the lives we live, can truly be known or understood, and it is best not to try. it is really, really best not to try.
similarly, you can spend that energy and time trying to figure out who you are, know your place in the world, understand yourself and why you were put here. once again, my love, do yourself the favour of letting go of these notions. like the universe is too complex to be understood in something like language, we as people are not meant to be boiled down to a simple scientific formula. we are glowing spirits, shifting and changing within the home of our bodies. the spirit may shine differently in the woods than it does inside of a cafe- it is not your job to capture its light and pick it apart until it’s small enough for you or others to understand. seeking true spiritual wisdom will lead you to the realization that we are to simply be. to allow ourselves to exist, and shine, and shift as much as the spirit pleases. do not do yourself the disservice of putting your spirit inside of a vessel too small for it to flourish. meeting your physical, emotional, mental, spiritual potential, truly means letting go and simply being, so that the spirit has no limit to how big and bright it may learn to shine.
the deepest, yet simplest wisdom i have ever come to in my years of inner exploration, is that true, raw and unfiltered joy, true freedom- is in letting go, and just being. releasing those spiralling thoughts about the past, trying to logically understand the present, or concerning oneself with the ‘what ifs’ of the future, and just sitting outside with a quiet mind, and truly feeling what surrounds you in the moment- that is when you will begin to fly. you have nothing to pick apart, there is no use in doing so. you are just you, sitting or standing or walking wherever you are, and that is all that matters. how many more details about the world and life can bring you joy, if you step outside of your mind and into the space around you? don’t miss out on it, my dear. i promise you will regret it.
and it sounds so simple, at times i wonder how i didn’t meet these realizations sooner. but i was caught up in all the habits of thought that clouded my vision and veiled the truth from me.
a bird should not spend its life walking on the ground and pondering the potential risks and difficulties of flying. it’s as simple as jumping out of the tree and trying, even if you don’t technically feel ready. bravery, too, feels like fear.
life is so, so simple. accept this and open your arms to the experiences it has to offer. you will be blown away, even by the most mundane moments.
