We are constrained interpreters of truth, not omniscient observers and not pure inventors either.

Truth as stable orientation structures that successfully regulate human survival may be closer to how human cognition operates generally. We do not possess reality directly. We construct usable models under evolutionary pressure.

But that does not mean all models are equal.

A model denying gravity fails quickly. A model denying mortality fails eventually. A model denying social consequences fails politically. A model denying biological drives fails psychologically.

Reality pushes back.

That pushback is crucial because it prevents total relativism. If all truths were merely invented, no organism would collide catastrophically with reality. But organisms do collide catastrophically with reality all the time. So there is truth, but probably not the kind many metaphysical systems promise. We don't have complete certainty like God would. We can't fully grasp reality or completely understand everything that exists. Instead, we work with layers of understanding, always limited by our own constraints.

Some truths are extraordinarily stable because reality continuously enforces them. Pain matters. Bodies age. Dependency shapes psychology. Organisms compete and cooperate. Attachment affects nervous systems. Death arrives. Time is irreversible at human scale. Consciousness is limited. Self-deception exists. Social systems shape identity. These are not merely arbitrary stories.

At the same time, human beings often crave metaphysical absolutes because uncertainty is psychologically difficult. Religion, ideology, nationalism, spirituality, and even scientism can become attempts to stabilize existential ambiguity into certainty structures. But they are far from the truth. But perhaps maturity is tolerating the fact that humans operate between two limits. Complete certainty is impossible. Accepting beliefs as truths is false.
