Ep 5: The Severn City Airport This is Clark’s episode.  This flight is rerouted to somewhere not Chicago and remains stuck in the terminal.  There are a bunch of people living there, there’s some tents, people made communities and are slowly losing their kindness.  The airport is shut down as the world slowly collapses around them.  

Elizabeth, who is Arhtur’s ex, was also on the plane and she is very removed from reality, thinking that she is above everyone else (with no time for her son).  There’s a custodian pretending to be from Homeland Security, who told people he could take them to a better place - with what vehicle?  

The episode flashed Day 9 and I truly felt it should have been way more than that considering how unhinged people seem.  And then Day 12 they are settling in, people are becoming a community - which seems fast.  But then Tyler, Arthur and Elizabeth’s son goes outside to get some air and sees something falling out of the plane that was left on the runway (the one that wasn’t allowed to gate and those in the terminal think it’s filled with corpses).  In walks Tyler with the dude, but then the security guard shoots the guy in the head and then forces Tyler and Elizabeth into quarantine for a month.  Damn.  And they weren’t killed when they got out, which was nice.

Ep 4: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Aren’t Dead Postpan - a term given to individuals born after whatever happened.  But The Prophet knew things, I didn’t quite understand at the time during that episode, but it’s not that he knew things, he knew things from the comic Kirsten hides.  We don’t know enough about the comic yet to know how much (if any) ties directly to the current world.

Javeen and Kirsten are still together after a year, living in a cabin.  Kirsten doesn’t know what a camcorder is and they explain it as recording a video and she says “phone record” - oh such a sweet baby.  🤣

They go to Pingtree where The Prophet (and the cult) came and took everything.  But Gill, who was a founding member of the Traveling Symphony.  But The Prophet took the children of Pingtree… why?

And now I realize that when they go back and forth in time, whether it’s 1 year, 5 years, 20 years - when they come back to the present it’s not always the same time.  Because the scene of Kirsten looking at the comic in the tall grass had already happened - I needed to take notes.  But I love the duality of the direction between Kirsten in the present with Alex and her in the past with Javeen.  

Alex rides off on horseback.  Kirsten finds a child, with a mine strapped to them as a message from The Prophet.  Two of the child hug Gill and they explode, meanwhile Sarah’s glasses were crushed in the euphoria of her piano playing. 

Ep 3: Hurricane Miranda is something, I really enjoy her, so very confident, smart, serious but with some humor.  But resourceful.  She’s in Malaysia, alone, working toward escaping back to Chicago.  (I roll my eyes though at her tripping and closing control over herself upon hearing about Arthur’s death… which causes her to drop the pot and something to fall into the sea, I just… don’t see how that’s a normal reaction - maybe I’m coldhearted).

She and Arthur are married, but they’re drifting apart because? Maybe they lost their connection due to his career and hers, or her quiet time creating.  But it’s Arthur’s invasion of trust when he shows another person her creation, and that he has an affair, that’s the end.  But she sets fire to her creation and it’s heartbreaking.  I’m glad she started over and finished it in the end.
