[ notes ] ; okay so, abt that roller disco au. it is.. really v bad, tbh. so much terrible self-indulgence and projection. in short: exactly my kind of jam. so it's this big ol' no good bad terrible thing, but also it is my firstborn child and i've completely over-thought everything to the last terrible disgusting detail. bc i'm a prize.

the short version is, basically -- there is a terrible American-style roller skating rink in the middle of Tokyo, it is tacky and delightful and appalling in turns. the pedals all either work there (most of the yr two cast), used to work there (the graduated yr one seniors), or are frequent customers (Manami and a few others, but. mostly Manami. they never leave. they are Always There, and is a source of Constant Ire within the fiery pits of Teshima's charred soul). quite by accident, Aoyagi has become my default voice when thinking on this au, which is. so lovely.

this here is the first in what will probs be a collection of soundtracks for this 'verse, as i've got a lot of stories to tell and meticulously piecing together some tunes is the most efficient way for me to accomplish that rn. of course, the reason i even started putting this one together is bc i'm attempting to actually write a fiction. so. we'll see where that goes. that hypothetical fic and this mix, specifically, have a mostly manate focus and as such, are... especially bad. a mistake, all around. enjoy.

(the cover art for this literally came to me in a dream, btw. woke up in the middle of the night, sketched up the first rough draft, and then immediately passed out back to sleep. the pose refs i used were chosen specifically bc they were wearing those fucking shorts and i was like, Yes. overall, an incredible pain in my backside to finish. but also, so so much fun. look at all that bright blood! all the pretty bruising!! wow.)
