Hey everyone! I hope you’ve all had a chance to get started on your fan works. Like in previous years, you get to decide when you want to post! I’ve set up a google form so please go fill it out. 

Since we got started a little later than usual, I’m allowing up through the last full week of December for posting. I’ll follow up with folks over the next few days to make sure everyone who signed up is still planning to complete their fan work.

Check your emails for your assignments! Also - if your assigned requests seem a little odd, or don’t exactly match what you offered, please don’t panic.

We’re a small but mighty group this year (34 of us!) so I had to reach out to a handful of folks who offered/requested things that didn’t quite line up with anyone. All of them responded with additional info or alternate options so if you get a request you’re super concerned about please contact me and I’ll work it out or provide more info!

Make sure you sign up if you want to! Sign-ups will close at 12 midnight EST, which is about 11 hours from now.

Hey everyone! Please read this post carefully and in its entirety!

CLICK HERE to sign up for the 2018 ‘Swawesome Santa exchange!

Here’s everything you need to know about the exchange this year:

1. Just like in years past, we’ll be doing sign-ups as well as fulfillment exclusively through AO3.

2. The sign-up period will be from now until 11:59PM (Eastern Standard North America Time) on Friday, November 16, 2018.

3. Once sign ups close, it’ll take ‘Swawesome Santa HQ a day or so to get matches completed and to send out assignments. My goal is to have this done within 24 hours. Then everyone can begin to work on their gifts.

4. Just like last year, participants will be able to choose their posting window through a sign-up process. You’ll sign up for a posting date about a week after you get your assignment, and posting will happen throughout December.

5. Same as last year, you can choose to create art or fiction, and you can choose to receive art or fiction.  

6. Ultimately, you’ll create one work, and you’ll receive one work. The sign-up process on AO3 will allow you to define up to three requests, and up to three offers. This does NOT mean three fanworks, but rather, up to three options. You’re only required to define one of each. More instructions on this are at the end of this post.

7. Fiction should be at least 1,000 words, complete, and beta’d. Please do not post a portion of an incomplete larger work.

8. Art should be original, traditional and digital hand-drawn or painted art, but no graphics, manips, or icons. A good rule of measure is to create something you’d be happy to receive yourself!

9. PLEASE sign up only if you are committed to completing the exchange.

‘Swawesome Santa 2018 is IN THE WORKS. Here’s some brief background info:

This is our fifth annual holiday-ish fanworks exchange! 

Sign-ups will open on Wednesday, November 7th. That way everyone will be done with voting! (You’re all voting, right?? Those of you in the USA??? YOU HAVE TO VOTE.) I’ll send out an official announcement with detailed instructions, but again this year all sign-ups will be managed through AO3.

We’ll have a short sign-up window this year: November 7-16th. I want to give everyone the ability to spread the word, recruit their friends, think about what they’d like to give/receive, and get their sign-up forms complete - but we need time to create our fanworks, too!

After that, I will send out assignments super quick (my goal is within 24 hours) and again let people self-select the week in December in which they’d like to post their fanwork.

If you’ve participated before, we’d love to have you back! If you haven’t, please join us! If you signed up last year and I never heard from you again, please don’t do that this time!
