Mskingbean is going out of her way to separate her work from JKR—a raging bigot, I thought we, as a fandom, collectively denounced—and now, as she makes edits to remove JKR's worldbuilding and legal right over her original, queer narrative, I see people complaining. If you want mainstream novels to have explicitly queer themes—something Harry Potter never had mind you—authors need to be able to publish them without getting ridiculed for it.

Yes, your beloved fic is likely being removed from the archive: download it. If you enjoyed mskingbean's writing, read the professionally polished version when it comes out; if you only liked it because it expanded JKR's universe, don't.

Yes, the characters will be altered. Funny how a fandom based on very little written canon can adopt what's widely accepted as "correct characterisation" from someones fanfic, and then insist the writer doesn't have the rights to further develope her own ideas.

"But it's canon compliant!" Do you sincerely think mskingbean will just have the names changed and then send it off to be published? It'll practically be an entirely different piece of fiction by the time it comes out. If that bothers you, I suggest you never read scripts or drafts or look at concept art ever again; production means being open to change, and improvement isn't possible without it.

And who knows, maybe the final product is shit, but if that's the case, judge it when you've actually bought and read it instead of jumping to slight someone else's success.
