Life can be intense sometimes. I remember the day I had darshan at #kedarnath I never felt that way before. I was scared, it was as though I had to choose, between all the things that held me back in this world or choose what was before me, the great unknown, a powerful presence I had never even imagined, honestly it scared me. I felt at home but too scared to choose what felt right, too scared to let go of everything of this world I held dear. But today as I sit and look back, the things I held dear arent there anymore, I lost, people, relationships I held so dear, my dreams, illusions, ambition and even purpose. So why did I choose something so temporary, why choose the path to darkness when light beckons. I'll never know. Maybe it's destiny, maybe it's how things are meant to be. Maybe it wasn't the right time. We are the choices we make. But what choices are right? Maybe we'll never know, or when we do maybe it's too late. But I say now choose light. This country has so much history, such a long unbroken tradition of piety and spirituality. What have we learnt? If not to look at our selves, look within and find it the root cause of all suffering, it does not exist outside, the root of joy and suffering, come from the same place. Within. So how do we root out this pain, this agitation? How can we ever hope to change the world make it a better place if we ourselves are imperfect. Imperfect people can never create a perfect world. Impure visions don’t bring about paradise, so let’s look within first and change the darkness into light, hate into love and aggression into compassion. This still from my film #mudita will always remain special to me. It’s a picture very close to my heart for a few reasons. The picture hung up on the wall is of my beautiful grandmother and her sister. The character #Padmavati rao plays in the film is very loosely based on this strong woman who brought me up. Who taught me how to be strong, how to be kind and how to laugh loudly even in the direst of circumstances. She was the best film critique, she sat me down after watching my previous film #yehdilramtajogi and had a long heart to heart chat with me about the things that worked in that film and the things I could better. No words can explain what this Goddess means to me. Sometimes the world feels empty because I don’t know where to look anymore, for that true love, for that hug that would melt away all my pain. She won’t be there to watch this film, but I just hope she raised a good boy. Maybe with this film I can share with the world the same joy, love and compassion she graced me with.

#mudita (n), the word has its roots in Sanskrit, it means joy but specifically a joy you feel in others’ happiness. As a film director you are only satisfied when the actors are happy. And my actors are happy once when I’m satisfied. So we had such #mudita moments all through out the shoot. This sharing of ideas, of our aspirations and our dreams together is what makes cinema and film making such an enjoyable process inspire of all the stress and all around craziness. I would also like to give a #shoutout to #padmavati rao who plays katyayini, a stand up comedienne in our film and literally lit up every scene she is in. If you haven’t seen her work before, go watch #padmaavat where she plays a pivotal role, before coming to the theatres to watch our little bundle of #movie magic #mudita.
