Mt. Rainier, WA by Joe Dodd
Could someone please explain to me why any ordinary citizen would need to purchase any one of these guns?
These weapons are designed to be light, customizable, easy to use, and in many cases, ambidextrous.
The projectile in most of those weapons is the 5.56 mm NATO round, based on the .223 Remington hunting round. It is inexpensive and useful for hunting a wide variety of game animals, from rabbits to woodchucks to gophers to deer to coyote and fox and even small to medium sized boar.
The weapons are designed to be easy to use and easy to strip and clean and maintain.
I am a left handed shot. The vast majority of these weapons are easily used by left handed people without modification, or with some slight and inexpensive additions to the weapon. Bolt action rifles and many other weapons have to be manufactured explicitly in left handed versions and those versions are quite often difficult or impossible to find.
The light weight and ease of use mean that older people and elderly people can use these rifles with ease where they might not be able to manipulate a bolt or other mechanism with reliability. My left wrist has nerve damage and I have a difficult time working my sonâs left handed bolt action hunting rifle.
I know a pastor who lives down the street from my son. He keeps cattle on his farm. He has used his AR15 to shoot coyote that were harassing his calves. He has arthritis and would have a hard time using a heavier weapon or one that wasnât as well designed.
I have used my rifle (similar in design to the ones in the picture) for hunting and for killing a sick coyote that was trying to chew its way through the screen door of one of my sonâs neighbors. The weapons are easy to use and designed to be durable and accurate.
My mother is four feet eleven inches tall. She simply cannot hold a regular pump shotgun or bolt action hunting rifle and use it with any competence. She can use my sonâs AR and manipulate it in all necessary ways in spite of her size and comparative weakness at the age of 73.
There are many logical reasons for people to own a âModern Sporting Rifleâ.
There are no valid reasons for someone like you to tell me or my son or my daughter or my mother that we cannot purchase or own a rifle that you know nothing about because of reasons you cannot articulate other than fear. No one in this country is beholden to your unreasoning fears of inanimate objects.

The above link has 629 PAGES of documented events where an armed United States citizen stopped an armed criminal from hurting or killing someone. Six hundred twenty nine PAGES of evidence for why you should take stock of your life and figure out if you want to be one of the people forever cringing in fear or one of the people who is ready and capable of handling any situation that might arise.
Your fears are things that are entirely real to you. You should seek counseling if they start to infringe upon your quality of life. Your fears will not be allowed to infringe upon my Constitutional Rights.

8.24.20. Kenosha, WI
Police shoot Jacob Blake 7 times in the back as he gets into his car. The city has taken no action against the officers yet, but has deployed force against community members and called in the National Guard. Protests across the country are starting tonight in solidarity with Kenosha, WI and Jacob Blake, whoâs currently still in âserious condition.â
bro i thought i was sooooo grown when i was 18 loool
idk what 18 year old needs to hear this rn but you are a child
some things iâve learned while studying in quarantine
drink more water instead of more coffee.
weekly goals are bullshit. set yourself 3-day goals. youâll be less laid-back.
donât just mindlessly stare at words. before you start studying, know your approach to it. have a plan.
summarizing the concept in your own words is the key part of taking notes. donât just copy things down, convert them into your own way of talking, your own vocabulary, no matter how dumb and unprofessional it sounds.
donât let the âstudyblr aestheticâ fool you. studying doesnât have to be pretty. summaries and notes can be messy as long as theyâre comprehensible. you can always rewrite and reorganize them later. (honestly, you better do. and you better keep them.)
donât throw away the papers youâve solved your problems in. staple them to the fucking textbook. you need to see them constantly. cause youâll need reminders of how far youâve came, when youâre feeling discouraged.
donât be an armchair analyst for your issues. if you have an idea then act on it.
remember: the exact point where it becomes difficult, is where your growth begins. take a deep breath, and try to focus on the paragraph in front of you.
get off your high horse and understand that if youâre a zero, you wonât go to 100 in a couple of days. first, youâll need to reach 30, then from 30 to 60, and then from 60 to 90. nobody is 100 everyday. that happens very rarely.
you need to have fun everyday. you need to have peaceful time every single day. even on exam night. especially on exam night, actually. so make sure youâve studied enough so you can have some time to yourself.
once youâre on a roll and in need of some challenge to stay on track, start writing down your studying hours. tell yourself youâre not allowed to do less than 80% of what you did yesterday. whatever the hell it was, even just one hour. so if yesterday you really studied for like, say 8 hours, today your goal is to study for at least 6 and a half hours. if you canât keep up with that, make it 70%, or 60%.Â
be forgiving of yourself. be kind to yourself. even if you bounced back and lost your streak. start again. as slowly as you did before. take your time. itâs okay, you were there once you can get there again.
Can I add something? My friend had a really good point with regards to studying or doing classwork- when you come up with some mundane chore (or whatever) that needs doing while youâre doing your work, just write it on a sticky note. That way youâve done something about the thought and you can redirect your focus back to your work.

I used to be so spiritual. Walking away from that makes me wonder how much Iâve missed out on, where my abilities could be, etc. but Iâm BACK starting tomorrow lmaooooo
Covid is not over and black lives still matter. Stop trying to "go back to normal" when shit is still happening.
Stop going on trips and going to restaurants without masks.
Keep educating yourself and protesting and calling and donating and signing petitions.
Wear a mask. End white supremacy. Defund police.
I know it's tiring but it's not over for either thing even though people are pretending it is. I know the overlap is exhausting. But be safe, social distance, and keep fighting the good fight.
