folklore is a compilation of songs Taylor wrote about growing up as a closeted queer person - aka the folklore of her whole life. I say this because I think the three characters are her at different points of her life and that the songs are about different times and people. Example - 7 is clearly about being a young girl and being in love with your friend but not knowing what it is. Betty is about teenage love. Peace is about right now. This is her whole life. She is passing us her folklore.

People rather see taylor as a homewrecker for writing so many songs about forbidden love and secret relationships than acknowledge that she is writing about queer experiences
