related to above. babymaking (not to be confused with breeding kink (very important)) and family building is very unappealing to me and does not seem romantic at all. imo "romance" should be solely between the main characters and "family building" is a different genre seperate from romance but in abo stories they tend to be unseperable

the mainstream alpha/omega thing is just a different flavor of straight people. theres sooo many gender/sex combos in abo and u have to go with alpha/omega. ok :/

in most omegaverse stories the disadvantages of being an omega heavily outweigh any sort of advantage they might have and if the story has an omega mc it turns into a whumpfest with no catharsis bc the focus of these stories are romance so in the end the mc usually gets together with the alpha and becomes a housewife which happily and magically solves all their current problems directly mirroring the "women should just settle down and get married and theyll be happy" sentiment which is super depressing to read

in most abo stories its always the omega taking suppressants the omega refraining from going outside the omega having to dress modestly etc and not the alphas taking suppressents the alphas refraining from going outside or the alphas being heavily controlled which i get is supposed to reflect our modern misogynistic society but is super depressing to read

in futuristic omegaverse settings where sex changing surgery is An Established Thing and the omega mc has a chance at changing their fate which is something they seriously consider, either their love interest or society as a whole stops them from committing to it and the mc ends up "settling down" as an omega "wife" which is super depressing to read

related to above. logcially i know omegas symbolize not only women but also disabled people (bc in many abo stories their frail constitutions prevent them from experiencing "normal" life and heats physically incapacitate them for days on end) so getting a sex changing surgery is actually kind of a cop out thematically and "accepting yourself" "forgiving your own flaws" "growing to love yourself" etc actually does make more sense. BUT bc this disability is tied to their physical sex, when the mc wants to get a sex changing surgery i really really REALLY want to support them (trans fucking rights) and when the story has the mc give up on their life saving gender affirming surgery for the sake of "romance" it kind of kills me inside and is super depressing to read

this take is so bad i have to doubt whether u actually played the archon quest or not. not only has ur traveler/mc hate clouded ur eyes but out of all the characters u chose it had to be LAUMA, the LAST person columbina would have opened up to on her own

u want LAUMA to be columbina's emotional pillar? the lauma who up until now had been agonizing w religious guilt over telling her people abt how theyre worshiping a false moon? the lauma who never gets a break day OR night bc shes always helping and guiding her people AND the animals? the lauma whos always physically tired bc of the giant ass horns on her head, the lack of sleep she gets bc of the noisy animals at night, and bc she cuts herself to use her blood as medicine for the sick??? the very busy, very overwhelmed, very not emotionally available lauma? THAT lauma??

lauma who is the leader of the frostmoon scions, the group columbina EXPLICITLY had bad experiences with, the very group that caused her to leave nod krai???

look. i get liking god/worshipper yuri but if ur talking abt emotional vulnerability and support, its NOT happening between columbina and lauma without the canon events (TRAVELER) happening first. and even if it did, when on EARTH would lauma have the TIME to become columbina's emotional pillar??? lauma is busy day AND night, and columbina isnt allowed to/doesnt want to enter the frostmoon scions settlement bc of her past and also the bounty on her head. so there is actual, PHYSICAL distance between the two. lauma can not be in two places at once. it just wont work out bro...

traveler is the only one to fulfill columbinas emotional needs bc not only are they unafilliated w the scions and the fatui, they are also the only one who took the TIME to slowly befriend her. (YAY UNEMPLOYMENT!!!) the scions worshipped her and then got greedy and started demanding her power in exchange for their offerings, and the fatui just continued this transactional relationship for her and wrung her dry of her power. the first time she encounters a pure, no-ulterior-motives friendship is when she goes back to nod krai and meets traveler. and its bc she befriends traveler that she gains the emotional maturity to recognize that not everyone in the fatui was cruel/cold to her, and that she did have precious friends in both the fatui and the current nod krai. so YES it did have to be traveler. arle and sandrone had their JOBS to do as fatui and couldnt emotionally babysit her, and lauma's plate was WAYYYY to full to be making friends with the god she worshipped. it had to be traveler, who has the time and patience and personality to befriend columbina.
