HIII sorry this took so long!! Of course I can write something for you my friend!! I'll do you one better, I'll write you some headcanons and a drabble <3
Steven Universe Future (Steven x Reader) ⏤ Supporting his S/O in a talent show!
Okay so first of all, I'm gonna get this out of the way: there is no way he isn't getting you to perform with him at least at some point. Even if you two literally have to fuse together onstage. You'll probably cave too in the next talent show, because he'll give you those giant insufferable (but endearing) puppy dog eyes as he tries to come up with reasons why you two should absolutely perform together. Steven is not the type of guy to want to perform on his own unless his loved ones are there with him. He's a people person, sometimes to a fault.
He'll very much want to be involved somehow, even if you do want to perform independently. You might have to gently remind him that this is your performance ⏤ even though you do appreciate his help, and his heart is in the right place, you want to be able to do this on your own so he can watch you with pride! Just make sure to remind him that just because you don't need him right now, you still love and care about him, too, of course.
The performance itself, naturally, goes off without a hitch. Whether you're singing, cooking, demonstrating a favorite hobby of yours, drawing or even just dancing, the crowd goes wild. Steven is, of course, amongst the crowd (while in the backstage waiting for you) loudly cheering your name and hyping you up like he's your biggest fan.
Your heart was pounding as you finally lowered the mic, the noise of the supportive crowd feeling like heavy rain upon your eardrums. For a small town that only had a few residents (though, to be fair, a lot of tourists visited too), the crowd was deafening.
You're pretty sure that, even through all the noise, you heard your boyfriend hollering excitedly over all the cheering. Out of all the people applauding your performance, he was almost certainly the one cheering the loudest right now.
You begin to smile as you head backstage, eager to meet up with him after everything. It was a long day, and you were sure the very first thing Steven would want to do was to settle down with you and maybe even cuddle afterwards when you got home. It was one of his favorite things to do when he wanted to wind down with you.
"(Y/N)!" you hear a familiar, clear voice call out to you as you stumble your way backstage to take all of your makeup and clothes off. Suddenly, before you even have the chance to go looking for him, he's right there in front of you, laughing and scooping you up in his arms and spinning you around.
"That was amazing! You did awesome!"
"Steven!" you yelp in surprise, but you're giggling now, and you're certainly not going to protest and ask to be put down. Your cheeks begin to feel hot.
"Aw, come on, I was nowhere near as good as you. You always sound amazing, compared to me."
"You're just being modest." Steven teased, grinning and giving your cheek a quick smooch. "But seriously, don't sell yourself short! Your hard work really paid off." His smile then softened slightly, and you could tell he genuinely meant it.
"I'm really proud of you."
"Aw, thanks, Steven ..." You can't help but avert your eyes shyly away from him. He laughs and just links his arm into yours as he guides you further backstage.
"Contrary to your opinion, I was missing my backup singer." Steven retorted, which you immediately playfully rolled your eyes at. "So I dunno ... I don't quite think my vocals were up to scratch."
"You're just mad that we didn't perform together," you pointed out. It was meant to be teasing, but Steven still ducked his head nervously. He let out a sheepish laugh.
"Is it that obvious ... ?" he asked, then smiled softer. "I just really like hanging out with you. It kinda feels weird not having you there. But I really do mean it. I think you were amazing." His dark brown eyes shone in the dim lighting of the backstage lights.
"I hope the rest of Beach City gets to continue seeing that, too."
I hope you enjoyed Anon!! This was really fun to write <3 Let me know if you want a continuation of some kind!
