I recommend Pangi´s vod day 1 for the rules, and probably the other admins like Hannah and Minute too. For what I understood, it was meant as a day 1 thing that probably could be extended a week max so nobody gets immediately banned, but they will re-assess if they reduce it. Idk what members have been saying is permanent, but it may be either not reading the rules well or just for fear of it staying
I do, however, think is not a good rule for a season. It was fine for the event, but part of the charm of lifesteal is that you could be banned whenever, even your first day, which is what pushed people to try protecting those who just spawned and made for some fights. That and the "no secret base" doesn't feel right to have in the season.
But I wouldn't worry too much? For what we know, I think majority or a lot of lifestealers share the same opinion / doesn't want the rule to stay either, so I would be (badly) surprised if they force it more than this week
i haven't watched pangi's vod yet so i'll give that a go. i know zam and mapicc were specifically really against the rule being implemented in the first place, so it's comforting to know most of the lifestealers are in favor of having deathbans back.
i tuned into spongs stream for a few hours yesterday and after a few chat messages, spongs, bacon, yungy (and i think pentar) all said "no it's not just a first week thing it's a season thing". (i could be wrong, i'd have to go back and check). chat was not pleased. i fully understand it being a day one or even week one rule, since the amount of new people is so much higher than every other season, and a few members have never played on an smp quite as ruthless as lifesteal (ie infume, katie, etc).
i fully agree with you about the incentive to protect players and make alliances, and it also gives more weight to deaths on day one. let's be honest, spongs would not have given away his hearts on day one if it could've resulted in a ban. i think that would've made for a much more interesting video. something like "trying not to die while ragebaiting lifesteal" is much more interesting than groveling for 12 hours to regain a single heart.
i understand the want for public bases and i think it makes sense from a content perspective, especially with the owners saying this will be a shorter season than what we're used to. i think they're trying to pull lifesteal out of the pit it was in in season 7 and so turning to a more event focused angle for this season makes sense after lsw was so affective. it just worries me for the future of the brand as it becomes less and less what it originally was.
we just have to wait and see. i have faith in the team to figure it all out.
twitter keeps saying the no deathbans rule is only for a week, but the members keep saying it's a permanent rule installment. idk who to believe, but if that latter is true, i have serious concerns about the direction of lifesteal as a brand.
the entire idea of lifesteal is that when you kill someone, you gain a heart, and when you die, you lose a heart. if you lose them all, you are banned from the server. that's real stakes! that makes content interesting to watch! that gives me, the viewer, incentive to root for you, the player, to grind gear and make traps and win fights!
there are a lot of criticisms you could have with the new rules implemented on lifesteal season 8 as a viewer. i'm sure many of these rules are purely so the players have more fun, which is important. i'm not trying to say that getting deathbanned on day one is fun. it's not. as a creator that has experienced something similar, it fucking sucks for content purposes. but you know what else sucks? not being able to innovate on content because of heavy handed rules in the way of interesting storylines. want to secretly trap every base i can find? i can't, because i can't grief anything if the owner isn't actively online. i want to try to win a fight with an obscure pvp kit? good luck coming up with anything that doesn't involve speed 2, punch, buckets, etc.
want to actually raise the stakes for your audience by having the looming threat of a ban over your entire story arc? nope!! you can't get banned!! it doesn't fucking matter!! a man with no pants fears no pickpocket, right?
that's fun for a while. it's a great tag line. but it's not lifesteal.
i have a feeling that more than half of lifesteal's most successful youtube videos would not be possible with these rules. the whole point of lifesteal was always that there were stakes. if you die, you lose a permanent heart of health. okay great, but what happens if you lose them all??
on season 8, nothing?
lsw brought such an amazing boost to the community and many of the rules on lsw made perfect sense for the context that that event was in. it was 100 creators from all different sides of mcyt and adjusting rules to cater to everyone was the correct move. but i don't know if i can agree with it on a regular season. yes, there are 13 new members and yes, that's very daunting for them! but every other new addition in the past has been able to adjust to the server and make fantastic content on it! it almost feels patronizing to dumb down the stakes this drastically.
i lurked for 5 hours in spongs's stream today. he's a really fun addition and i agree with the decision to add him to the server. however, it feels like (from what i've heard) the decision about the no deathbans was almost specifically in his favor, which doesn't feel fair to audiences who have grown up around this server having serious consequences for death and the intense, emotional storylines that can come from it.
i might rant about this more later when i think longer about it. none of this is in any way to hate on or dogpile the server owners. they are doing their best to better lifesteal and keep it running as long as possible and that's incredibly commendable. as a viewer though, the drastic amount of changes to the server's functionality has been a hard pill to swallow, and the lack of communication from ls about said changes has left some of us feeling confused and disappointed.
from a creator perspective, i'm personally confused by the change in branding. don't advertise yourself as an anarchy server if you have this many limitations. don't advertise yourself as hardcore if you can't actually be deathbanned. don't advertise yourself as lifesteal if it's no longer really lifesteal.
if i were to make changes from season 7 to season 8, i agree with the decision to keep bases public. this is good for interactions. i do not agree with no raiding if not online. if i have something valuable, i can hide it. i agree with no griefing though.
one of season 7s most interesting arcs was entirely centered around sb farming naked players. the happy ghastathon would not be possible on season 8. that was a fascinating arc and felt meaningful because there were stakes! and made for great hero arc content for zam and yungy. while i understand the incentive to add a "no killing naked players" rule, i disagree with it.
there are other things i disagree with as far as branding, but i am still excited to see where this season goes. i hope some of these changes will at least be addressed, since the lack of communication has felt like older viewers of the server are being left behind. i've been here since season 5 and will continue to support lifesteal for seasons to come. i just hope that these new changes don't end up stifling viewership.

ALL OF THEM (that I’ve drawn so far) *insert me crying*
Some design stuff relies on my own theories… mainly Squiddo and Ash being teamed alongside Mapicc being forced to join the invis mafia
s n o w g r a v e
@dimiclaudeblaigan asked for a tutorial on how to begin drawing. Good news! If you can draw a funky looking stick man, you have already started!
I think that stick people are a great starting point for artists because of the things you can learn from them that will be important later on.
If you are able to draw a circle and a couple of lines, you can easily put together a stick person.
Congratulations! You have started to draw. :)
A stick person is a very minimal artistic representation of a real life person. It is simple yet recognizable, and is widely used in art, media, and signage.
But what can a stick person teach us about drawing people that look more like… well, people? Lets have a look!
hello mandela catalogue tumblr, i’m only posting here to mention something about the series i have recently noticed in regards to the motif of the faces seen in the instalments.. so far I’ve seen them in:
Volume 1 (Remastered)
Mandela Catalyst
Presto
It may be nothing, but these faces remind me SO much of the “you are an idiot” trojan virus that became mainstream in the late 1990’s after it was anonymously published as a form of scareware.
the reason i think is even remotely relevant is because MandelaTECH seems almost perfect for the era and line of profession the virus became well known in, and the whole purpose of the virus was to directly mock those who would download it, which in my eyes is very reminiscent of the direct messages we see in the tampered tapes (seemingly left by the alternates) to mock their victims.
[example, the hidden block of text that reads “A fool” under Dave’s nametag in https://www.mandelatech.com/prophet, seen by pressing Ctrl + A]
I obviously have no idea if this was intended by Alex or not and might be easily clutching at straws but.. fun to think about.
The MandelaTech Website...
HEAVY spoilers for all of MC including Presto.
This is going to be a rundown of everything I've found on the site, hidden text, morse code, arg elements, etc., as well as a brief analysis of their lore implications and what I think Alex is trying to show us with this site.

genuinely thinking of starting a theorising channel bc the amount of shit i hyperfixate over, end up knowing everything about, and then spew to all my family and friends is ridiculous and i need a creative medium to let it all out
right now its tmc, next week it'll be utdr again, and then after that i'm thinking of jumping into ghe cuz i've never seen it
