I just want to make sure you all know that it is absolutely normal to get “worse” after you are out of a long-term abusive situation.
Your brain does what it needs to block it out as best as it can when abuse is ongoing. Just because you’re out of the situation doesn’t mean it’ll magically be better.
It is absolutely okay that it may be harder as you begin processing. I promise you aren’t weak or overreacting. You are valid.
The phrase “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is misleading af.
Your trauma doesn’t get the credit for making you stronger.
You were the one who made the decision to recover and put the work in to get there. You were the one who rose from your own ashes. You were the one who put yourself back together again like smashed pottery repaired with veins of gold. You are the flowers that sprouted through the cracks in the tarmac. You stuck around and you fought and you learned and you grew.
The thing that nearly killed you shouldn’t get the credit for making you stronger - you did that.

Just because abuser can justify it, it doesn’t mean it’s actually justified. Abusers can justify anything. Abuse cannot be justified.
don’t be ashamed of yourself if you’re still hung up over the past. trauma can take a long time to recover from, and that is so okay
“Until you heal the wounds of your past, you are going to bleed. You can bandage the bleeding with food, with alcohol, with drugs, with work, with cigarettes, with sex; But eventually, it will all ooze through and stain your life. You must find the strength to open the wounds, Stick your hands inside, pull out the core of the pain that is holding you in your past, the memories and make peace with them.”

honestly the worst thing about having ptsd is always waiting for the other shoe to drop.
every so often I'm reminded that my childhood was a little more shitty than I realized

You are more than what you’ve been through.
Check on yourself as much as you check instagram.

♡ Need support?
parents who tell their daughters they are ugly are bad parents
everyone who is replying to this with some variety of “that’s just how life is”
no
your parents fucked up and should not have treated you that way
they were wrong and you should say it
This includes implied ugliness.
you need to lose weight
you’ll attract more boys if
you’re wearing that?
i wouldn’t wear that
this will flatter you more
you should wear more makeup
Oh hey I haven’t yelled about voting in a while
Reposting this because some of y’all need a reminding.

“Make sure you don’t start seeing yourself through the eyes of people who don’t value you. Know your worth even if they don’t.”

give me my childhood back. give me my teenage years back because i miss something that didn’t happen. there’s this angry void inside me wishing to be filled with happy childhood memories, in which i was supposed to be a child. Just a child, and not a defenceless person scared out of their senses which later would deprive me of a sane teenagehood!!!!!!! I wanted those years to be of growth into adulthood and not a recovery from childhood!!! I would say you OWE ME a childhood and a teenagehood, but fuck you I don’t need anything from you.
