Nobody has any money. Every apartment in NYC has been spliced into 4 bedrooms with a living room the size of a closet. Everything costs twice what it did 10 years ago.
People retreat into their screens because the screen is free.
Culture requires free time. It requires a city where artist can bartend 3 days a week and cover rent. The kids who do that are working 5-6 days a week and then posting their shit on Instagram praying the algorithm plucks them from precarity. It's extremely sad. /End ID]

I don't write often but when I do it's mostly because I become possessed by the muses themselves and my brain becomes full to bursting with words that must be captured lest they escape back to the aether
It's been a long time since I found a home made of recycled material and this one is exceptional. You gotta see this ecologically friendly, unique home, known as The Treehouse. Built in 1943 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, it has 3bds, 2ba, and is only $299,900.
If you've never seen one before, an upcycled home made of architectural salvage and recycled material is an interesting mix of various unique salvaged elements.
What an appropriate sign- "Humble." It's just a house made of humble inexpensive or free discarded and reused material. Note the 3 different colored glass windows. I bet they have some interesting stories.
The fireplace could be made from leftover bricks.
On the other side is the kitchen with an island made of window panes, and miscellaneous wood, plus a counter. You have to be creative to put all the pieces together to make a home like this.
Oh, I like the red cabinets on the right.
The cooktop is in the island and it looks like pieces of quartz or marble. Note the interesting cabinets and shelves. The ceiling has a delightful configuration.
They've got a water dispenser next to the fridge. I love houses like this.
Looking from the kitchen to the dining area. Wow, they even scored a double red sink. Note the cabinet that the cook top is in- things don't have to match.
The kitchen is large and has a nice leaded glass window and tile on the floor. Closeup of the counter shows how it's pieced together.
I love the pitched ceiling and windows.
This room appears to be a home office with a built-in counter.
One of the bedrooms has some mirrored doors on the closet.
Bath #1 has some lovely tile and a bowl sink.
Even the recycled cabinets match the color scheme.
This looks like a large primary bedroom.
It has a matching en-suite.
2nd story roof top deck that makes this home really look like a treehouse.
Even the exterior of these homes are made of salvaged material.

Taylor and Steph built their lovely Earthship home in California for less than $10,000. With nothing more than a vision in mind, they set out to learn the skills they would need to build their own off grid home.
They aimed the car West with a simple goal: find land, build a house. Their main objective was to build a structure that would maintain comfortable indoor temperatures year-round without air conditioning or an external heat source, and to do so using reclaimed and re-purposed materials.
The home consists of discarded tires, glass bottles, and aluminum cans. The windows and doors were all found for free on Craigslist. Even the furniture in the home was handmade or free.
The home is built into a south-sloping hillside to maximize thermal mass, so the east, west, and north walls are buried. The earthen floor is comprised of clay, straw, and sand and is sealed with hemp oil.
The walls are covered in beautiful reclaimed redwood from a barn. The posts and beams used throughout the house came from two redwood trees on the property.
The majority of the work on the Earthship was completed within a year by Steph and Taylor. They lived in a yurt on the property while they gathered the materials and began construction on their home.
New doodles. I’ve been obsessed with Earth Ships and Cobb houses for forever now. I’ll live in one eventy but for now I’ll draw pastel versions of them.
