There's something hilariously sad about seeing European tourists in the US go crazy over shit like taco bell and wendy's
For any Europeans (or other non-USAmericans) currently in the US right now, please go a local diner and try some actual local USAmerican cuisine
Local cuisine from my cultural region of the US, the San Francisco Bay Area includes:
California style pizza
Celery Victor salad
Cioppino (an Italian-USAmerican seafood soup)
Crab Louie salad
San Francisco sourdough bread
San Francisco style clam chowder (traditionally served in a San Francisco sourdough bread bowl)
Green Goddess salad
Garlic fries (Yes, garlic fries originated in the Bay Area)
Mission burrito
Rocky Road ice cream (Again, yes)
Word of Warning: Sourdough bread is a huge part of NorCal's (pretty much everything between the California-Oregon Border and Greater Los Angeles ) cultural identity, and particularly of the Bay Area's cultural identity. Please take care not to insult our sourdough. Yes, we know our bread has a shit ton of chemicals and ingredients listed. We are literally are required by law to do so
And here are some foods from other regions of California to consider trying when you're here that aren't avocado toast or kale smoothies
California burrito
Carne asada burrito
Carne asada fries
Chiffon pie
Cobb salad
Date shake
Hangtown fry
French dip
Korean tacos
LA galbi
Monte Cristo sandwich
San Diego style fish tacos
Tri tip sandwich
Tuna tartare
