the use of gaze as a plot device in young royals was absolutely insane and it made the story so much more rivetting.. like breaking the 4th wall and the close ups of their eyes and emotion gosh the directors and edvin and omar deserve so much credit

i genuinely dont understand why people antagonize the fuck out of ian in 5x12 for breaking up with mickey...... plot wise it was the most logical thing for his character to have done??? especially considering his already tainted perception of himself AND all the insecurity that he has been harboring since season 1 ++ it was repeatedly established that ian does care for monica more than his siblings (to an extent) so he was obviously gonna be heavily influenced by everything she said and as much as ian hates monica she is the Only person he knows who could’ve understood an ounce of all the shit he went through (mainly sexuality and mental health wise, which are both strong facets of his complex identity) also can you imagine going to military prison and them letting you out only because you family had to testify in front of high ranked officers and your boyfriend how incompetent and unreliable your mental health has made you..... like damn cut him some slack lol
