i love dead end host a normal amount and i smiled realllllly big at every page and i have questions! martin and taenia 🍸 have become a beautiful brainworm for me.
1. how do martin and taenia feel about pet names, and would they ever have any for each other? taenia calls martin his "host" a little reverently, but i wonder what he'd really like martin calling him...
2. would they have any go-to pet names for a very special anon, or a third person who was committed to them?
3. taenia can sense the nervous systems of other people, but could he sense if someone was afraid if he tried, or can he just feel the presence of nearby nervous systems? curious...

1. honestly i cant think of anything that would express taenias love for martin more than "host". to him his host is truly his entire world. literally. so him calling martin ~his host~ is saying that he is everything to him.
its a bit diffrent the other way around.. since the term parasite does have a pretty negative meaning even in their world i can imagine martin being a little uncomfortable calling taenia that... even if taenia himself doesnt mind.. at least early on.. perhaps it will change..........
2. i think they already have a third whose VERY commited to them. strange neurosurgeon cryptoparasitologist but they usually just call her joan.... im kidding.. if theyd have an actual third person in the relationship theyd be the secondary host of course..
3. its mostly that he can sense someones neurons firing off but he cant distingish what the signals are doing (esp in bodies that are not his host). someone being deathly afraid would feel the exact same to him as someone orgasming for example.... he couldnt tell the difference. its kind of the same thing with martin too. like taenia can feel a lot of martins bodily functions.. when its like certain muscles working he can tell what it is.. pissing as another example. but once it gets into more complex neuron activity its just noise to him. thats why taenia really CANT read martins thoughts!
