Ed may not be the first quirky and clever character, but definitely became a definitive one (and for some, a blue-print for humor haha). Ed is also interesting by being very silly, secure and self-reliant but NOT isolated or without the need for comfort/companionship. This is Ed, with a deeper copper skin tone, a broad nose, clear upper and lower lip shape, and hair that has a thick and curly texture (I wanted this style to be like an afro, but with lengths separate in little sections)

Eighth picture for @creatingblackcharacters Melanin Beam Challenge; Ming from Avatar the Last Airbender! She was a genuinely good person, it would have been nice to see more of her and the other nice people in the Fire Nation get time to shine, voice their disagreements about what the Firelord is doing, even join in the rebellion... OK, I'll stop before I start rambling into my fan-season that just changes the whole ending of the show haha. The POINT is, people from the Fire Nation are not all just "pure evil" (and that also shows just how bad those who choose to keep up the war truly are), Avatar as a series has a fairly vast fantasy world with different people all across the many nations, but are lacking when it comes to Black characters (some are coded as such, with a few that are more obvious/intentional), and even though we only saw Ming for a short time- she was awesome, and deserves to be recognizably Black. A lot of people are aware that she was voiced by Serena Williams, so I modeled this redesign slightly after her (not EXACT, but I hope I did the lovely features justice)

2- vaguely mimic that watercolor style (I'm doing ALL of these edits in MS Paint with a mouse. there are layers now, which is wonderful, and 3D Paint has more resolution and brushes for details, but it is still tedious to work slowly for the end result I want. I finally copy-paste several times into Microsoft Word to use the few art edits available, including certain blurring/grainy filters. that's it. I made those fake "water drip" spots individually until they looked halfway decent)

Anyways this was a lot of fun to do!! I love characters that play with their medium a lot, and Parragon Fiskal's character is so clever!
