What I do want to speak to is an idea I’ve seen among many of my fellow writers, and I agree with it wholeheartedly: Straight is not the opposite of queer/lgbtqia.
Wait...what?
Allow me to explain. Unless we want to try to police every single LGBTQIA+ person who also uses “straight” as part of their identity, we need to accept this fact. There are trans and intersex folks who are straight. There are asexual and aromantic people who use split attraction and straight is part of that.
