this is the man who took in captain america and a superspy on the run from SHIELD and the entire us government with barely so much as a “please.”
this is the man who was like “fuck yeah let’s break into a military base and steal back my wings” and “fuck yeah i’ll voluntarily be a fugitive with you fuck the government.”
like i guess maybe people thought he was possibly pro-gov because he worked at the VA but that just means he’s pro vet. oftentimes ain’t nobody leery of the military organization and the government like the veterans it has chewed up, spit out, and swept under the rug.
i just wanna know what happened in the life of samuel wilson that made him so salty about governance and organization. what betrayals big and small hit him this way? what losses? what dirty US Gov laundry has he seen? how much of it is his, how much has he accumulated from the stories of others?
he may come off (and be) well adjusted as all hell but that does not mean he trusts or even has faith in the structure that gave him wings and then took them away.
sam was anti-signing from the jump, and it was certain and reasoned and cool-headed from moment one. i want to know the story of why.
