What is currently going on
The US under President Trump have changed sides and are now standing firmly with Putin's Russia against the United Kingdom and the European Union, spouting propaganda of the Kremlin and openly supporting right extremist parties in the EU and in the UK. Their ultimate goal appears to be to destroy the EU and possibly NATO as well.
At the same time the Trump administration is slowly but inexorably dismantling democracy in the US and turning the country into an autocracy.
So far, no one is making any serious attempt to stop them. Inside the US there appears to be little or no resistance.
It is important to keep in mind that a majority of US voters wanted this to happen or at least do not mind that it is happening. Trump never made a secret of his agenda. They knew perfectly well what was coming when they voted for him.
As to the outcome of all this, I am not overly optimistic though it may not prove as easy as Trump, Musk and Vance appear to be thinking to turn European democracies into autocratic states.
