     “Shittykawa?” Around her he didn’t feel that he had to hold back. The insult come nickname easily left his lips with no filter holding it back. To others he was more polite, keeping such vile words from reaching their ears. But that was just a formality. When surrounded by friends who understood his habits and quirks, he held nothing in. “Hm.”      It’d been awhile since he’d seen his annoyance of a best friend, but for good reason. In fact, he was almost certain the sulking captain wasn’t too far from them, but keeping himself hidden as to not anger the ace further. “He implied I was short, so I told him I’d quit the team if he showed his stupid tall self before school ended today.” A shrug and he was on his way, though as he moved he could have sworn he heard a gasp from somewhere down the hall. 

     The ace of Seijou was a volleyball player, and everything about his movements screamed that. However he found himself on the basketball court, practicing speed, precision, only to have his habits take over in the final moments. All had been well until he decided to spike the much larger ball towards the hoop. In an instant pain shot through his hand, the ball colliding with the back board and launching elsewhere.       “Fu—” A curse tried to escape, but he clamped his lips shut. Clutching the injured hand within his other and massaging the pain away, he surveyed the area for the ball only to find it far too close to a passer by. “Dammit— Sorry! Are you hurt..? I.. lost control.” Better that then to admit he’d tried to spike a basketball. 

     He’s exhausted, and quite honestly bored. The matches below were slow, one point after the other gained in succession, but there was so little to be admired in their plays. The winner had been decided from the beginning, and whilst the ace believed in the stronger six being the ones to rule the court, in this case it was far from an honorable win. So as a sea of black and orange crossed his vision, he shifted his attention. Watching a team be annihilated wasn’t desirable.       “You’re getting better, ah, Yamaguchi, right?” Praise where praise was due. At least talking kept his mind off the teams defeat below. To think that Seijou might fall at any time like the current players left an ache in his heart. 

what is an ace?  the ace is responsible for spiking past the blockers with brute force. the ace is also responsible for getting last point scores during long rallies where the ball doesn't hit the ground for an extended period of time. although an ace needs a huge amount of fighting power, being an ace doesn't really require great strength.
