The Trailer from today used "I Ran (So Far Away)" by A Flock of Seagulls
What do these songs have in common, other than being bops from the 80s?
They were both on "Mike's Basement Beats" before it got removed from Spotify. Tracks 2 and 4 to be specific.
Lets start with "Always Something There To Remind Me" by Naked Eyes:
Released October 1982
Is a cover of a song originally from 1964 (according to the timeline, is the year Kali was born and the last year Hawkins High's basketball team won the state championship prior to the S4 game)
a song about everyday places triggering memories and feelings of lost love
Verse 3: "If you should find you miss the sweet and tender love we used to share, Just come back to the places where we used to go, and I'll be there."
The above verse does not apply to Mlvn, as they only canonically have 2 'dates': The Snowball and Rink-O-Mania. Please note that Will is present for both of these 'dates', and it's heavily implied Mike is upset over Will leaving him alone in the former and it is flat out stated that he's upset over Will ignoring him in the latter.
"Just come back to the places where we used to go, and I'll be there." hiding in memories, requesting his love to find him.
And now, "I Ran (So Far Away)" by A Flock of Seagulls:
Released March 1982
One of the people who wrote it was Mike Score (lead vocalist) and he apparently resents it for being their most popular song.
It was produced by Mike Howlett, so 2 Mikes there.
The song can be interpreted as an "acknowledgment that you cannot escape love/attraction".
Song refers to one woman, but the music video notably has 2 identically dressed women.
Verse 2: "A cloud appears above your head, A beam of light comes shining down on you, Shining down on you, The cloud is moving nearer still, Aurora borealis comes in view, Aurora comes in view"
Will always being haloed in light when we get a shot from Mike's POV.
