Iβm back!π Sorry I havenβt posted in so long. This is a birthday π card for my friend. Hunt 101 nib, sumi ink, Japanese postcard paper and colored pencils. I havenβt practiced enough lately, but my friend likes handmade cardsπππ°β€οΈππππ.
Ok! I finished the card! (See previous posting). I didnβt follow the line!! And the size! Must make better guidelines!! Must practice!!! Itβs the thought that counts!!!???πβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈπΊ
Practicing I love youβ€οΈcard. First tried emerald green ink with gum Arabic. Didnβt work well. Found it didnβt need gum Arabic with tube watercolors. Holbein watercolors, straight pen, Hunt 101 nib. Pink brushpen, Japanese postcard paper. Will post finished card nextπβ€οΈπΊπΉππ»β€οΈ
Making thank you cards for my friends for celebrating my birthday πππ°ππ§. Aqua blue Watercolor and I added gum Arabic so it wouldnβt bleed. First time trying gum Arabic. Donβt know if itβs necessary, but I read about it. Hunt 101 nib again. Lavender brush pen. Japanese postcard paper. A bit of copperplate mixed with modern calligraphy??

Not quite copperplate. I am trying to find my style.

I guess this is called modern calligraphy. I made this card for my friend and her daughter. Their birthdays are a couple of days apart. I am learning from books, but I took a class for 3 months here in Yokohama. I love pointed pen!!! πβ€οΈπ... sumi ink, brush markers, marker pen, Japanese postcard paper.
Itβs windy and rainy here in Yokohama right now. ... not quite copperplate π, but Iβll keep trying ππ. ... this is a nice aqua blue ink by Pilot. Ink is beautiful, but Japanese black sumi ink makes a clear line without bleeding. Hunt 101 nib. Straight pen because I canβt get the oblique pen in the bottleπ.
Practicing this card πβ€οΈ.
Oops, must wait before erasing pencil marks! I will keep trying the copperplate. ππ€²πΊ

Working on the Thank You cards for dear friends. One almost finished! Using oblique pen, Hunt 101 nib and sumi ink. Japanese postcard paper . Brush pens for color. Trying to do copperplate. ... maybe more slant? Longer letters?? Will keep trying. πβ€οΈ
I did this postcard last year. Watercolors and Japanese brush. Watercolor with brush is much harder to do than brush pen and ink pen. Must keep practicing and dream big!πβ€οΈπ€²ππ
Practicing thank you cards for my dear friends. I like to practice copperplate calligraphy, or similar to with oblique pen and Japanese sumi ink. Iβm using the Hunt 101 nib. The Hunt nib makes the most contrast and the sumi ink doesnβt bleed and makes a clear line. I am using a nice very smooth notebook paper that I get in the bookstore in Yokohama. I will keep practicingπ.
This is Parsley the new member of our family. She likes when I am home in the dinning room/workshop doing some calligraphy:-) we are still not sure yet if she is Miss Parsley ... or Mr. Parsley-??
