home is where the heart is

          HIS BODY KNEW what to do, where to hold and how to move with Jameson in his arms. It was like no time had passed between them. Even if it had and things had changed, this hadn’t changed. Jameson fit against his chest, warming him up like a comfort he had completely forgotten. How did he ever let this go? How could he have left when he had this, here in the town they grew up in, this was all he had needed and everything he had missed. Fingers itched to reach up and cup the warm, smiling cheek. He couldn’t hold back his smile, every emotion was there, clear in his eyes as he stared down at his sunshine. Their bodies moved together at their own tempo, Clary too enraptured to see anything but James.

Hands brushed lightly against the back of Clary’s neck, smoothing down the hairs reaching down to the nape of his neck. It was easy to fall back into this pattern with him, head immediately resting against his chest as he got comfortable with him all over again. James was still shorter than the other man, fitting easily against him as if he belonged there. For a long time, he honestly thought he did belong there but that illusion had been shattered when Clary had left. He wasn’t thinking about that now, too happy in the moment. Everything else in the world was forgotten except the two of them together.

  Despite being the driver, he had likely never felt less in control.  He turned and drove where she wanted them to go, even when he wasn’t quite up for the night she seemed to want them to have. James just couldn’t say no to his partner in crime.

Those memories were pristine in his mind, like they happened yesterday. But they didn’t. His mother’s strong beliefs on love and how it was everlasting had effected his brain, deluding him into thinking he had a chance after all this time. Cursing her out later would be the one pleasure he got. 

Pushing the negative down, he decided to enjoy the night ( and time ) Jameson would give him. It would be cherished, another memory to add to the ones he already had. The question was forgotten when James made the first move, taking his hand. “Of course,” he grinned, easier now that they were forgetting the past. Didn’t he know Clary would do anything for him? Anything that got a smile? Dancing had always been a past time, sometimes they would sway, slow and sweet to an old song on the radio and other times, there would be tables or lap dances. Out on the dance floor, he’s hand wrapped around Jameson’s waist, pulling him close like he once had.

The alcohol in his system was enough to get his mind off his worries and troubles and on Clary and the music beating around them. It was easy to fall into old habits as they stepped out onto the dance floor together, the hand on his waist practically sending shock waves through him. His body instinctively moved closer, his own hand brushing Clary’s shoulder and neck as they swayed to the music. James couldn’t think about how bad this could turn out, not now, not while he was enjoying it. In all honesty, he shouldn’t have been doing this but he couldn’t help himself when it came to Clary, which was clear from the way he leaned into him.
