Urban Reading

Met this lovely reader in London,  St James's Park.

“Orwell was definitely a genius, but perhaps not a very good man. He regarded women as some commodities. But I am reading it for a third time, so I must have liked it. I often reread instead of reading something new”.

“This is really funny. He kept a diary while working as a doctor, where he wrote all the crazy shit that was happening around.”

“I started it yesterday and already made a good progress. I studied science... so, I guess, it’s a classical education that I never had.”

“It’s not a hardcore crime. Just a break from reading for my degree in Material Science”.

“It started really well... And then it got worse and became a bit boring.”

“I am just trying to get a feel of it and find out about other people’s experiences of London. I am from Australia myself.”

“I am rereading it, it is one of the books that offers a lot to take in. It helps in my work - I am teaching difficult kids. One of the good tips is to use a personal incentive for people, rather than telling them to do stuff. For example, showing the kids that Maths can help them to succeed in life”.

“It is a book on how much around us is a fiction. Take a stock market, for example... Or even instagram - people construct their identities there. You don’t know what to trust anymore. Can you rely on anything at all?”

“This is about different materials. I like all books about science”.

"Yes, I like the book - I feel really drawn in. It’s like I am inside the character. It is about an actor who moves back into his old family house and starts seeing some apparitions. It feels like past is haunting him".

“I decided to reread all Terry Pratchett books this summer.”

I always feel a bit ashamed to interrupt people when they are reading, especially if it’s a book on solitude. 

“I like the idea of being able to share rather than having a need for someone”.

So, I saw this reader eating an apple next to Eve, beautiful and frightened Eve. I must say, it is a very special place for reading - the glass pavilion brings into mind the Crystal Palace of London, where the Great Exhibition of 1851 was held.

Found these readers in one of the most beautiful places in Malaga, Spain. 

I saw these lovely readers in sunny Malaga in a park, under the beautiful tropical trees. It was a perfect atmosphere for reading.
